Hermione noticed how he carried himself into the Great Hall with the highest degree of arrogance and pomposity. She almost rolled her eyes when she saw a group of girls from the Slytherin table quickly looking away as he approached the table.

"How can someone like something like that?" She asked herself, genuinely confused to how someone that terrible could still have supporters.

"They dont know who he really is." She said to herself a little too loudly.

She watched Tom slowly turn around towards her and raise an eyebrow at her. His scent, which she now knew was mostly just cologne. He didn't have a distinctive scent, much to her surprise.

"Who doesn't know who he really is?" He questioned, the two still standing near the Slytherin table.

"What are you talking about?" She played dumb. He gave her an odd look before turning to the table.

"This is the Slytherin table. You sit here and only here unless you want to be a social pariah amongst us." Hermione opened her mouth to speak but he was already walking off to the far end of the table. The girl stood there uncomfortably as she looked for an empty seat on the table. Thankfully, there was an open space near her which she took.

She looked around, hoping to start conversation with her new housemates. But they were all talking amongst themselves, making her feel like an outlier. As she twiddled her thumbs awkwardly, she couldn't help but feel eyes on her.

The Granger girl looked down the table to find a group of Slytherin boys studying her like they'd never seen a girl before. Tom sat in the middle of them, yet his jaw was clenched tightly and his gaze was towards a blonde across from him.

Abaraxas Malfoy was smirking nonstop as Tom sat across from him.

"Who's that?" He asked while straining his neck to get a better look at the new girl.

"Hermione Granger." He could barely drown out the idiot sitting beside him as he rubbed his temples.

"She's quite a broad, don't you think?" Tom stared up at him.

"Enough. What did I miss in DADA while Dumbledore made me tour her?" His question was ignored as Abraxas continued to speak about the new girl.

"You won't even snog her? Then I will."

"I won't say it again, Malfoy. Quit being an imbecile." His voice dripped with venom. Merlin knew how he got stuck with a group of fools like him.

"Right. Well, she was talking about some new....." But as Abraxas began to review him on what he missed, the Riddle boy started to think about the new girl. Granger. He'd heard every last name, yet that one didn't ring any bells.

And it annoyed him extremely. He was going to find out who she was and where she came from.
