Tom knew she was different. Not just in appearance, but in personality and background. She didn't gush over him like the other dimwitted girls in the school but she wasn't afraid of him either. It frustrated him how much he thought about her. How she'd literally taken over his brain. Day and night he wondered where she actually was from.

All Tom could and would think about was her. He didn't know whether he should despise her or actually be friendly to her.

Tom shook off the entire idea of her as he walked to Slughorn's office, quickly yet quietly. He had to ask him a few questions for him on something he had read about.

When he arrived, he looked around to make sure no one was around. He knew that Horace would bow down to Tom and wouldn't ever tell anyone.

He knocked the door which was followed by Slughorn's "come in". He stepped in.

Hermione silently followed the boy as he left the common room after dinner. One reason because she obviously needed her wand. But another because he rarely left the common room.

She thought she saw him walk to the Great Hall but stopped in front of Slughorn's door when she heard voices coming from behind it.

"I was wondering-"

"Yes, Tom? Go ahead, ask away." Slughorn said reassuringly. Hermione shivered and realized that this was the moment. Everything depended on her right now.

She did the unthinkable. She opened the door and ran in, panting.

Slughorn and Tom gave her looks but each was different. Slughorn looked confused whereas Tom looked like he could explode with anger.

"Professor Dumbledore needs you, Professor Slughorn." She lied. Slughorn nodded his head hesitantly and got up.

"Tom you can ask me another time, is that alright?" Hermione saw him clench his jaw tightly.

"Yes, sir." He said calmly. He got up and said goodbye to Slughorn. Hermione followed him out and and when they were out of Slughorn's view, he grasped her arm, tight.

"Did you follow me here?" His voice was way too calm to be sane.

"What?" She hissed. He rolled his eyes and scoffed.

"I'm not an idiot, Granger. Why did you come in?" His grip around her arm tightened.

Hermione softly groaned at how hard he was holding her.

"I...Because I need to ask you something."
She blurted out the first thing she could think of.

"Well?" He asked impatiently. She looked around and thought of an excuse.

"I-I need my wand." Tom clenched his jaw.

"Don't lie to me." Hermione gasped slightly when his hand wrapped around her neck gently.

"I...I'm not." She stuttered, trying to get him not to kill her right there. He sneered and pulled his hand off, making Hermione let out a breath of relief.

Hermione was surprised when he pulled her wand out of his pocket and tossed it at her. She held it in her pocket in case she needed to use it.

"What were you going to ask Slughorn?" She asked after she made sure there was a safe distance between them.

Tom eyed her suspiciously.

"None of your business." He turned around to leave, but Hermone's big mouth spoke before she could think.

"You want to be a Dark Lord. You want power and....and followers. You want to be in charge." Hermione slapped a hand over her mouth in shock at what she'd just done.

Hermione watched him stop in place and lift his head up. His back straightened before he slowly turned around.

His face was cold and expressionless, something Hermione had never seen. She inched backwards slowly as he walked forward.

"How do you know that?" He asked lowly. Hermione's chest rose up and down as she tried to remember how to breathe again. She just fucked everything up.

"You'll thank me." He tilted his head slightly and opened his mouth to speak but Hermione beat him to it.

Hermione pulled out her wand as quick as a flash and pointed her wand at Tom. She then said the word that she knew would have consequences in the future.

"Obliviate."
