Chapter 26: Staring at the same Moon

Yllka's PoV

Pasimple akong sumilip sa storage room kung nasaan si Thea. "Pst. Nag-lunch ka na?" Tanong ko sa kaniya nang makalapit ako sa tabi niya. She's alone.

Nilingon niya ako at inilingan. "Hindi pa, ikaw?" Tanong niya pabalik. Umiling din ako. "Hmm.."

"Pero nagpa-reserve na ako sa Cafeteria. I'll just wait you up in my office, take your time." Paalam ko at tinapik siya sa balikat bago tumalikod at lumabas ng Storage Room. Dumiretso ako sa office at inayos ang mga gamit ko, next week ay magaganap ang Anniversary ng Yang Hospital kaya busy ang lahat ng staffs. Sa decoration, sa program ceremony, sa lahat ng magaganap.

We are all busy, plus the fact that I'm still studying to be a Pro. Hayst. "Excuse me, Dra." Bati ni Nurse Lida, she's a new employee but she call everyone politely. I smile at her and she come in. "Pinabibigay ni Julienne." Sabi niya at inilahad ang clipboard sa akin.

"Thank you. Pakisabi sa kaniya, salamat." Nakangiti kong tugon sa kaniya. Unlike the ladylike, she salutes at me then wink at lumabas na ng office. I finish cleaning my desk first then review what's in the clipboard.

"Hey, girls!" Unexpected really happens. We watch Sof as she walk gracefully towards us. With her red silky dress and her white killer pumps. Bumeso muna siya sa amin bago naupo sa bakanteng silya.

"Bakit andito ka na naman?" Kaswal na tanong ni Thea at sumubo ng pagkain. Sof chuckle at sumandal sa lamesa. Thea and I stop from eating and look at her curiously. "What now?"

"Guess what.." sagot ng bruha. I instantly swallowed the food in my mouth and tease her.

"May naligaw na panibagong gwapo sa trabaho mo?" Balewalang tanong ko at sumimsim sa aking tubig. She pout her lips while Thea laugh ridiculously.

Hinampas siya ni Sofia sa balikat at nang natigil siya sa pagtawa. "Oh, stop laughing, it's annoying, Thei." Maarte niyang sita dito at nilingon naman ako. "You're teasing me again, Yll. Of course that's not why I visit the two of you here!" She exclaimed and roll her eyes heavenwards.

I stop from drinking my water at sinagot siya. "Oh, really? That's new. Usually, in an unexpected visit, it's all about your boys. Your silly hobby." I tried to reminisce those moments that she made a surprise visit only to tell us her silly hobby--"Fafa Hunting".

Thea laugh at me while Sofia groaned. "Okay! Fine! Enough with that. Let's get down to the reason why am I really here." She change off the topic and let out a sigh, "Remember Cred?" Tanong niya sa amin. Sabay kaming tumango ni Thea at hinintay na dugtungan niya ang sinasabi niya. She giggle and intertwined her fingers. "...He's courting me!" Full of excitement, cheerfulness and nervous.

We were awe for at what she have said. For real? She became like this because of Cred? "Hey, Sof, is this really serious?" Tanong ni Thea sa seryosong tono, her older sister-alike is kicking. The latter smile genuinely and nodded. Then nod and nod, at umirit ng mahina. Buti nalang at walang masiyadong tao ngayong oras.

"Then, we're happy for you! My god. I'll support your relationship with Cred no matter what!" I exclaimed and she giggle.

"Okay then, we'll celebrate for tonight! No excuses! No alibis! No excemptions!" She said. "Game?" Masayang tanong niya. I put my thumbs up, Thea did the same thing. "Wooh, then, I'll pick you up tonight, at your houses~ don't forget to bring clothes, you two will sleepover in my house." Pinal na desisyon ni Sofia.

As what we're told to, nagdala kami ng pantulog at susuoting damit para bukas. Siguradong hindi na kami makakauwi pa para mag-ayos. Sofia's house is two-storey and she has three bathrooms, one in the first floor, one in the second floor and one in her room.

"Wala na ba kayong naiwan?" Tanong niya habang nasa driver's seat. Naupo ako rito sa shot gun seat at si Thea naman sa backseat.

"Wala na. Anyway, have you already cooked dinner?" Tanong ni Thea at sumandal sa bintana.

"Of course, 'kay. Let's get moving now~" hyper na sabi niya at pinaandar na ang sasakyan. I buckle my seatbelt in case, knowing this naughty brat.

Hours passed and we arrive at her house. "Wooh, we're here." Magiliw sa magiliw. I unbuckle my seatbelt at lumabas na ng kotse, sumunod na rin naman si Thea. Dala ang mga gamit ay tumuloy na kami sa loob. Tumulong kami sa paghahain ng pagkain, though Sof is a naughty brat, she's independent, she can do all the household chores and she clean her house as a simple and ordinary housekeeper.

"Hmm.. makakatikim na naman ako ng masarap na specialty ni Sofia." Nakangiting sabi ni Thea.

"Yes! How I miss eating here." Segunda ko nang mailapag ni Sofia ang bowl kung saan nakalagay ang mga ulam, Caldereta, Chicken Curry at Menudo. "Hmm..."

Sofia chuckle at our reactions. "Tsk, pray muna tayo. This dining table is sacred," she said and we hold each other's hands and let her guide the prayer. Then after, siyempre, chibog~

Pagkatapos kumain ay nagpahinga lang kami sandali at nagkwentuhan bago nagligpit at umakyat ng Rooftop, with beers and chips. Gosh, salamat at makakapag-relax din kaming tatlo nang sama-sama.

There are summer lounge in the rooftop, we lied on there and talk about things, past life; school, crushes, the memories, present life; past flings, whatsoever. Hanggang sa inabot na kami mg madaling araw. We were lying in the lounge while staring at the moon. It's a clear sky tonight.

Naramdaman kong nag-vibrate ang cellphone ko mula sa bulsa nitong jacket na suot ko. Bumangon ako mula sa pagkakahiga at dinukot ang cellphone sa loob ng bulsa.

Ivan calling...

Agad na lumukso ang puso ko nang makita ang pangalan ng Caller. Dahan dahan akong tumayo at lumakad papunta sa railings nitong rooftop.

"Hello?"

"How was your girls bonding?" Tanong niya. I can sense that he's off to work now.

"It's fine, the two fall asleep. Andito pa naman kami sa rooftop. I'll just wake them up later, ikaw? Kakauwi mo lang ba?" Pangangamusta ko sa kaniya. He chuckle from the other line that made me smile.

"Hmm.." sagot niya.

"Kumain ka na ba ng dinner? Wait, anong oras na ah? Huwag mong sabihing hindi ka pa kumakain?" Nag-aalala kong tanong.

"Haha. Of course, kumain na ako. Pinahatid ni Manang Edna 'yung pack dinner na niluto niya para sa  akin." Sagot niya. Napanatag naman ang loob ko sa sinabi niya. Good thing at nakakain na siya. "I'm here in the terrace, the ambiance is refreshing. How about you?"

I looked around and saw pine trees. It's cold, refreshing, and excitement's spreading in my body. "Hmm.. there are pine trees, the ambiance is refreshing.. and... I'm staring at the clear sky, at the bright Moon.." nakangiting sagot ko habang nakatitig sa buwan. It's cool.

He didn't answer for some seconds, "You're staring at the moon?" Kalmadong tanong niya.

"Uh-huh."

"I'm also staring at the bright moon.. thinking you're here beside me.." his husky voice made me close my eyes and feel the cold breeze air, but, I felt the warmth.

"Yeah, I'm also thinking you're beside me, I could feel your warmth." I whisper and stare at the bright moon again.
