I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice the man leaning across the table from me. He turned my head up to look at him. I slapped his hand. I hated being touched by anybody. Their fingers leave scars on your body and your skin still remembers their touch.
"Why won't you answer the question?" he asked.
Now he was being plain bossy.
"Get a clue dumbass, maybe I don't want you to know my name!" I said a bit louder than intended.
Some of the other people around us turned to look at us. Of course I gave them the finger and they went on with their meals. Jason gave me a look that would make you laugh your butt off.
He continued to push me until I broke which took a while.
Finally out of frustration I yelled quietly, "I don't have a name. My parents never gave me one because you don't name something without any value!"
I yelled louder with each word. I breathed in and out heavily to calm myself. "Oh." he said. Silence filled the air as an awkward tension started to grow.
"Serefina." he spoke excitedly.
"That's what I'll call you. In Hebrew it means burning fire. It suits your personality perfectly and your flaming red hair. You are like a burning flame. No matter how much water they throw on you, you burn brighter each day. You may not think it, but you always have hope."
