(Jason's POV)
Darkness.
Darkness and silence surrounded me.
My body felt numb. What happened? What was I doing? Where am I? Millions of questions rushed through my mind. Then it hit me. Sarafina, that guy, hurt.... Damn I must have looked like such a loser in front of her and I didn't prepare for that freak to be so strong.
Move body! Get up you weakling! I didn't spend all that time training to be lying on the ground unconscious. She's probably trying to fight him right as I sleep and with her thigh as it is, I don't think victory is likely.
Wow I'm such an amazing knight in shining armor. Can't even protect a girl. She didn't even realize that I was following her the whole time.
Her title "Blood Hound" fit her, yet at the same time it didn't. People just didn't know the real her. Even though I haven't known her that long, I've seen her expressions change so much in that little time period.
I want her to let me in, but I don't want to push her or force anything. I'm sure she's had her fair share of that from her childhood. I don't know what happened to her growing up, but it must have been pretty fucked up for her to be this way.
She doesn't get that I want to help her. She says no and pushes me away using cold words, yet her face screams in pleading.
Ever since I saw her in the bar that time, I knew I had to have her. She appeared so worn-out and angry about something I don't think I will ever know. Her beautiful maroon colored hair was pulled up in a quick up do. She looked as if she had ripped her clothes off the back of a hobo, but in my eyes, she still looked amazing.
Her eyes flared with multiple emotions before she settled for a sip of her beer. She glanced up feeling my stare. Oh god now I look like a pervert and a stalker. Our eyes met briefly before she quickly averted her eyes back to the floor.
She wasn't paying attention to her hand and knocked her glass off the table just as that bastard Jackal walked by. His "brand new shoes" were soaked in the process. An enormous grin spread across my face as I savored his distraught face.
It immediately fell as her slammed the red-haired girl to the wall. Her face faltered, but only for a moment before she gained her composure and kneed him in the crotch. Ouch, she's a feisty woman. I like that.
Before I knew it there were glasses flying everywhere and the place was getting trashed. Customers began to join the fight and break tables, on my watch too. It is highly probable that I will get fired from this place. And right when I got a job to support myself.
Well I guess I better save any more damage. I directed my attention back at the flaming girl. She was flying through the air every which way, kicking their asses. "Hmmp". I chuckled watching the whole scene play out before my eyes.
I watched for a few moments before intervening. She stopped in mid punch with her hand grabbing some guy's shirt and her fist balled. For a female she sure put up a good fight. Not that I was being sexist on anything, it's just that most girls sit around reading fan fictions or waiting for their "prince charming" to come along and avoiding danger at all cost.
But the girl standing before me was none of these things. Heck, I bet she didn't even know what a fan fiction was. Just my type. Oh shut up inner playboy! "Just let this poor girl buy you a drink, and we can all be on our ways. Okay?" I declared.
I knew that the mystery girl wasn't poor, but I was interested in how she would respond. "Fuck that!" she sneered glaring dangerously at me. I smirked at this, just how I thought. From that point on I was determined to annoy her and become her friend.
She looked lost at times, got angry at me randomly, and was an overall pain to take care of, but she needed me. Whether she knew it or not, she was slowly sinking into a state of depression and acting on impulse rather than on instinct. She was setting herself up for a world of hurt.
It just... effected me when she looked so sad. Now if I could just stop reminiscing about the past and wake up! I attempted to move my leg. My leg jolted and twitched in pain as I attempted to move it farther.
My head was spinning and my whole body felt as if I had been run over by a bus. I gritted my teeth and struggled to open my eyes. They slightly cracked open to reveal a crumbled figure lying on the ground convulsing in spasms as another figure repeatedly kicked it's stomach.
Realization struck me and my eyes flashed open.
Oh hell no!
He was going to fucking pay for hurting my Sarafina.
