Ari's POV
"I don't know why but thinking of you makes me smile."
His voice on the other end of the phone is music to my ears as the warmth of the Auckland night clings to my skin.
I'm so happy to hear his voice.
But I long for him to be by my side.My skin tingles for his touch.
My heart aches as I look up at the night sky.
Closing my eyes.
I picture him. That way, I can pretend he is here with me.
I want so badly to reach through the darkness for a hand that isn't there.
"Babu." I whisper down the line.
"Ari?"
"Baby, the stars are shining so bright, and it's beautiful. But I just want to cry." My voice wavers.
"Ariana. It's okay baby girl. Why are you crying?"
"Malcolm." I inhale slowly, lifting my eyes to look back up and the pepper of stars. "The stars are shining so bright, but I wanted to share this moment with you."
"I just wish I could give you one big hug." He replies, the tone of his voice tells me that he means it. Truly. "Please don't cry. Know that I love you so so much."
"I love you more." I reply.
Alexa calls my name through the darkness and I know it is time for me to go.
"I have to go back to the hotel Malcolm. I love you. I'm thinking of you."
"I'm thinking of you too."
------------
Malcolm's POV
I'm bent on the ground with my hands in my face.
An overwhelming feeling of helplessness overcomes me.
I wanted to be there for her. So badly.
And there is something I must do.I pick up my phone, having looked up the best florist in Auckland.
"Hello?"
"Hello Sir. How can I help you today?" A cool, thick accent replies.
"I want you to make a delivery of the most beautiful, sweetest smelling flowers."
"For someone special?"
"Someone extremely special." I reply.
"Make sure that there is a little bit of yellow. And white, big, soft, white petals."
I give the florist the address of Ari's hotel and the message I want to be sent with it. Begging that they send it to her door as soon as possible.
I place the phone down, smiling.
Ari's POV.
I yawn wide and stretch. I've brushed my teeth, washed my face and placed my hair up in a messy bun.
My best friend Alexa is in our bed skyping her boyfriend.
I moisturise my face in the bathroom, shaving my legs, pulling on a pair of panties and my baby's t shirt.
I inhale his scent as I pull the shirt over my head. It slips onto my body and hugs my skin like a dress. I tug at Malcolm's shirt, bringing it to my nose and closing my eyes as I inhale deeply. Once more. And again.
Walking out to Alexa, I smile at her before clambering into our bed. We talk for a while. About memories.
We giggle about the days when things were simpler. And we muse in awe at the fact that our dreams came true.Their is suddenly a knock at the door.
"I'll go and get it, Alexa says." Smiling as she rolls out of bed and skips to the door.
As she opens the door, she whispers with a member of hotel staff before gasping loudly.
"ARI!"
"Alexa?"
"Omg Ari he is so so so sweeeet!!"
"Wait what? Who?"
"MALCOLM!"
I immediately get up from bed hearing my baby's name.
Suddenly I gasp. I drop the the ground. Overwhelmed with love as I see them.
I beam as I read the note left by my baby:Dearest, sweetest, Ariana.
Here is the biggest hug I could give you.
A thousand sweet kisses.
Love you always.
Malcolm.
