Over the course of the next few weeks Lyn met with the king almost every day to set up their plan to integrate into the palace. During these meetings she would have to sneak in and out of the palace so as not to blow her cover before she even donned it. After the first two days Luke attended an interview and was suddenly a part of the royal menservants. By the end of the first week Max was a visiting courtier from a small neighboring country. All that was left was Ryan and Lyn herself. Lyn was on her way for one of her daily meetings when she realized that despite the king promising her help she had yet to meet the prince. She shrugged off the idea figuring it would happen with time and quickly slipped into the king’s office. It was easier to meet him at his office in the castle then to have the king visiting the council every day; it would make people think things were wrong.

“Hello your highness,” She said sweeping into a quick curtsy as the king looked up from his books, “Have you started the preparation for Ryan’s integration into his station?” She asked, Ryan had already joined the royal guard but couldn’t very well be trusted with the princess so soon after joining. He had to prove himself at the very least.

“Yes,” the king replied, “I’ve been setting up rumors telling the guard I’m looking for a personal guard for Cassy.” He said with a sigh, “Luckily Skye hasn’t gotten wind yet he won’t really be happy si-“ Suddenly the door slammed open causing the king to jump and Lyn to whorl around, grab her gun and disintegrate into smoke and shadows completely disappearing.

“DAD! What the hell! You’re setting a personal guard for Cass? What’s wrong!? Is she in danger!? Why the hell are you getting some stranger to guard her!? You know I’ll protect her! Dad!” He yelled furiously trying to get his attention. His father looked like he was trying not to laugh. Suddenly something dawned on him. “Was there someone else here?”  He asked suddenly looking around frantically, “And what the hell are you laughing at!?” He asked his dad fed up with being ignored.

“Ha! Gwen child come out from hiding, I’ll introduce you to my loud overprotective son.” The king said with a laugh refusing to answer his son. Suddenly Lyn materialized appreciating the fact that the King was using her code name. That way it was harder to tie together her full name. As she appeared next to the King a very confused Prince Skyler jumped back in surprise with a small gasp. Both the king and Lyn stifled a laugh.

“I’m Gwen,” Lyn said, “I’m in charge of protecting your sister and you… your gunna help me.” She decided after casting him a cursory glance. He gave her a confused look back but not before checking her out in a similar fashion. Lyn thought that he might just be the hottest guy she has ever seen and the muscles visible from his shirt told her that he could be a lot of help in her mission. It helped that she could practically taste the air magic rolling off him in waves. By the time Lyn was done with her musings the King had already explained the situation to Skye well except for her real name or nickname. That was something only the ninth council and her team knew, it unlocked too many secrets she didn’t want found. Luckily nobody that knew her name thought to search for the secrets her name hid besides nobody but she knew the other half of the key, her last name. Suddenly she blinked and realized that Skye was talking about her plan.

“That’s brilliant! Even if somebody tries to take out the actual guard they still have to contend with her and they would never even suspect it! Hey! How did you do that disappearing trick before? What are you?” He asked suddenly becoming cautious his hand going to the gun at his hip. Lyn laughed at how the handsome prince only now thought to ask.
