When we got inside I jogged up the stairs to my room, opening the door and walking inside. I jumped on the bed and Taehyung followed, entering the room cautiously. He walked over to the fairy lights hanging around, lifting a finger to touch them carefully. His gaze quickly shifted to the window. He jumped onto the bed, looking out of the window to his own.
"You're right it does look weird" he said, sitting down comfortably.
"Can you pass me the pencil over there?" I asked, pointing to the pencil resting on a stack of books. He leaned over and grabbed it, handing it to me. I pulled out my sketchbook and opened it to a new page.
"Can I play games on your phone?" He asked, his face resembling a young kid.
"You sound like every 5 year old cousin" I commented, giggling to myself before handing him the phone. He smiled, laying down on the mattress and began searching for games.

I glanced over at him, an idea popping onto my head. I lifted up my pencil and began drawing him, sneaking looks at him every now and then.
"I need to go back now" he said, handing me back my phone. His eyes drifted down to the half finished drawing before grinning.
"Looks like you're the one obsessed with me"
"No you just inspired me" I corrected, taking the phone in my palm.
"Anyway, I'll go now" he said, standing up.
"Bye" I said, waving to him as he moved towards the door.
"Byeee~" he hummed, leaving the room. The soft clicking of the door signalled him leaving the house.

Mom:

I clicked off the phone and placed it on the window, plugging in its charger. Standing up, I walked to the bathroom and took a quick shower before I slept. When I got out I changed into a oversized black shirt and began to dry my hair lightly with the towel. The chime of the phone caught my attention, making me walk over and pick it up.

I looked out the window, to see his blinds shut.
I closed my own and climbed under the covers, placing the phone on the windowsill. The last sound I heard was my mom entering the house as I fell asleep.

When l woke up it was later than usual, the numbers on my clock reading 1:04pm. I grinned at myself realising how long I had slept for after the previous early mornings. I got up, stretching out my limbs before leaving the room and walking downstairs. The house would be empty by now, my mom at work. I told her not to work Sundays but she'd never listen, insisting that even if it helped it a little it still helped. I looked over at the picture frame resting neatly on the bookshelf, a layer of thick dust coating its edges. I trailed my fingers over it, looking at the picture. So much had changed 9 years later.

A smiling little girl with short silky black hair sat on the shoulders of her dad, the beautiful mother standing beside them and smiling. Our family had been so simple then, just the three of us. When he died it came as a shock to both of us, completely twisting our lives out of routine. The hospital called early hours of the morning explaining to us about how a drunk driver had crashed into him, his chest hitting the steering wheel and killing him instantly. Both my mother and I cried for hours that night, the two of us not knowing what to say or do. He was an inspiration to me, someone I admired and loved so much. It's weird how quickly those people can be ripped from our lives like pages in a book.

His face looked so happy in the photo, his mouth mid-laughing as I sat on his shoulders holding onto his thumbs. A smile made its way on to my lips as I traced my fingers over his figure. I took my phone out and snapped a photo of it, setting it as my lock screen. The weather had seemed to grow colder as it approached winter, the sky getting darker earlier and the rain becoming more frequent. I walked to my bedroom and quickly got changed into new clothes and grabbed a black rucksack, throwing my sketchbook inside along with my phone and a pencil.

I headed out of the house, locking the door behind me. The air was slightly cooler but fresh, the streets quiet and empty. I walked across the pavement until I reached the familiar dirt road that cut through the trees. When I entered my spot I walked over to my usual seat on the wooden pallets, placing the bag gently down before climbing on top of them. I took out the book and pencil, placing it in my lap and opening to a new page. As I clicked my phone open I opened the photo app and tapped on the recent photo of me, my dad and my mom. I rested the phone on top of the book so I could see it while I drew, making it easier to transfer the picture onto paper. I began to draw the three of us, paying close attention to the expressions on our faces. Drawing had always been a good distraction, something that I could lose my self into and just forget about the world for a while. The pages of the book were filled with drawings of people, mostly of those who I loved or took interest in. A lot of those pages were occupied by drawings of hands, something I had seemed to favour drawing. I flicked to the most recent drawing, the one of Taehyung's hands holding the stem. He had beautiful hands, maybe that's why I felt the urge to draw them. My eyes flicked up to the figure standing above me, snapping me out of my daze.
