she sat opposite me
she must have been eighty
covering her bones
in the latest fashion
she talked about
"how she shouldn't"
indulge in all the food
i watched
as she tore it to pieces
pretending it tasted amazing
but i could imagine
what she really thought
when it passed her lips
then she had more
because it looked
"delicious"
cut it into pieces
and only ate one
she was good
you could tell
she was a pro
but i knew what i was seeing
because i'd done it myself

and then it occurred to me
if she's still going
even now
does it ever get better?
