So, year 10 is just around the corner and that means GCSEs. I'm nervous yet pretty excited. It's a fresh start to do subjects I actually want to do, and to work with new sets of people. I want all bad things to be forgotten so we can all focus and move on to GCSEs which are more important than holding onto grudges. I also want to boost my grades this year- because I really need to do well. I'm aiming for 7, 8, or 9 grades in physics, chemistry, biology, English, german, and short course RS. And then grade 7 or 8 in History. Ideally I would want a grade 8 for maths (A*) but I'm on track for a 6 (B/C). If I can get it to a 7 (B/A) I would be over the moon. Extra curricular activities/ extra GCSE equivalents in aiming for 80-85%, so a very good B or maybe even an A. So hopefully that should be okay. I'm going to have to work so hard- it sounds stupid but I thought I was working hard, but I need to put even more effort in. I hope the next year goes well. It's essential I get good GCSE results and then I can commence triple science A-Levels and then to university. I want to go to Kings College London or the QMUL (queen Mary's university London) Medical and Dental school. I even have the option (depending on travel etc) to possibly study at Caerdydd Prifysgol (Cardiff university) as they offer the same courses. If that doesn't work, then I can study at Southend university. Ideally I would want to study the BDS (Bachelor of dental surgery) in the London universities, and with hard work, my grades are almost up to that level. At the moment, I'm on track for studying FdSc Oral Health Science at Southend university (to go into dental hygiene and therapy). I would want to focus more on therapy- but I'm happy with that a career choice too. Now, I get it, most people are terrified of the dentist and they're a group of ~generally~ hated people, but I don't mind. It's a field I want to go into as I can help people. It's also as much of an art form as it is a medical career as you get to create beautiful smiles and happy patients. A smile is a powerful thing so it seems like a very rewarding career whilst still being involved with medicine and science. I have to focus now because, despite what some people think, my GCSEs really influence what happens next for my education, eventually leading to my career path. I think also being confident at german could benefit me, as I could ~possibly~ have the opportunity to work in such a great country, providing I continue with my progress towards a complete degree of fluency. If all else fails, I could see myself as a german teacher- but I know ultimately that's not my first choice career. Another important factor that could help me achieve my goals is that work experience/ shadowing is important. That's not a problem because my dad works in a trade where he gains contact with many people in many different professions. Luckily, he knows 5 good contacts for people who work in aesthetics and dentistry, 3 of whom are potential for shadowing and work experience but only when I'm 17. Luckily, that's when I get my braces off ☺️👍. I definitely think it's a career path that's right for me because I get to
-help people
-develop manual dexterity
-make people smile
-develop further postgraduate (orthodontics, paediatrics, etc)
-science + medical study
-developing it as an 'art' form
-help support health
-put people out of pain
-focus and attention to detail
-a job to 'enjoy' rather than labour and get bored/stressed over it
-get the title of 'Dr' (because come on... that's pretty cool, right?
So yeah, I think it's great! Right now, all I can do is focus, work hard, brush and floss, and keep smiling!

Sorry for the long, boring post- about education 😅 but I needed to talk before the school year commences 😷😬😁
