Chapter ten Mistake or Miracle

Wes's pov
"I'm pregnant" Mari says, nervously.
I freeze in shock, just staring at her.
I sit there for god knows how long in utter shock.
Mari's pregnant?
It has to be mine because I was her first and she was my first.
I finally snap out of it but I'm still very shocked.
"You are?" I ask her.
"Yes" She replies, looking down.
"I don't understand how..." I say but Mari cuts me off.
"At the party, we didn't use protection" She explains.
"So...It's mine?" I ask but already know the answer.
She nods and looks back at me with tears forming in her eyes.
I wrap my arms around her to comfort her.
"I guess I was wrong" Mari suddenly says.
"About what?"
"About that night not being a mistake" She replies.
I pull away from her and look at her, surprised.
"How can you say that?" I question her.
"Wes, I'm gonna be honest and tell you that I don't know how to think about this. I don't know if it's a good thing or a bad thing" She exclaims with tears running down her cheeks.
"Baby, I think this is wonderful" I tell her, smiling.
"How? Wes we can't have a baby. We're still teens and in college" Mari informs me.
"I know but think about what will come out of it. A baby. OUR baby" I state, holding her hands.
"I know but..." She trails off.
"Mari. I will be there for you to support you and show you the positive side of this. This could be a great addition to our lives and you can't just throw it away" I explain, softly to help her make the right decision.
"But I don't think I'm ready to be a mom" She replies.
I reach my hand to her cheek to wipe a tear away and stroke her cheek.
"I think you'll be great" I whisper and move my hand down to her stomach.
Mari looks at me and smiles.
"Thanks Wes. I don't know what I would do without you" She says.
"Probably just be bored" I joke and laugh.
She giggles and lays her head on my shoulder.
I continue smiling and think about my life right now.
I'm gonna be a dad.
I'm actually going to be a dad.

Boze's pov
I stand at a distance, seeing Mari and some dude who I'm guessing must be Wes, snuggling together.
I admit that I'm a little jealous that Mari has a boyfriend and is now expecting a baby with him but I'm also very happy for her and promise to be supportive of her.
I smile at the soon-to-be parents and turn around to walk back to the dorm room.
