Chapter twenty five Jenny's nightmares

Wes's pov
It's been about a week since the incident with Peter and we're a bit depressed.
Jenny has been having nightmares about him and calls him 'Mommy's monster' because she understands that he knew Mari and she knows that Mari's scared of him, but that day we saw him Mari may have been scared of him but she was also scared of me.
She saw a side of me that neither of us have seen before.
I punched Peter in the face and threatened to break his neck, even I didn't think I could be able to do that but I saw how dark he was and how scared Mari was, not to mention he just kept walking towards her to take her by force, I couldn't just stand back and do nothing! I had to protect my wife and daughter!
Mari and I are watching an episode of Doctor who that she wanted to watch.
It was a new episode called the 'Doctor's Daughter' we've never seen this episode before and because of the title Mari was intrigued.
A few minutes after the episode started, Jenny came in.
"Daddy?" She asks.
"What's wrong cupcake?" I ask her, concerned.
She looks at the TV.
"Do you want to watch it with us?" Mari asks her.
Jenny nods and I lift her up and sit her between us.
We continue watching(Sorry for spoilers)and a girl with blonde hair in a ponytail appears out of some sort of machine and calls the Doctor dad.
After about ten minutes of watching, we found out that the Doctor's daughter's name is Jenny.
Our Jenny laughed at that and she started to like the new character.
Near the end, the Doctor's Jenny dies and Mari started crying and Jenny was just confused.
After it had finished Mari went to the bathroom to calm herself down. She doesn't like Doctor who deaths and they really make her emotional but one episode that really made her cry was Doomsday. (If you haven't seen that episode then I won't spoil it but I can tell you that it's really sad. I've watched it so many times and it still makes me cry)
Jenny brings me to her room to play with her and we play with toy cats.
"Daddy?" Jenny asks, sounding scared.
"Yes cupcake" I reply.
"Is Mommy's monster coming back?" She asks.
I look at her, concerned. I know that she's really scared of him that it's giving her nightmares.
"I really hope not" I say.
"But he was after Mommy. What if he does come back and hurt Mommy?" She questions with tears in her eyes.
I instantly wrap my arms around her and sit her on my lap.
She starts crying into my chest so I rock back and forth while stroking her hair to calm her down.
"Jenny, I promise you that he won't get anywhere near Mommy or you. I will be there to keep him away from all of us" I tell her.
She lifts her head to look at me with her teary eyes.
"Even Auntie Liv, Auntie Courtney, Uncle Flitzy, Uncle Jovie, Uncle Shayne, Uncle Sohinki, Uncle Keith, Uncle Laser and Uncle Noah?" She asks me.
"They might be able to handle themselves but even they won't let anything happen to us" I tell her, smiling and wiping the tears from her eyes.
Jenny smiles and wraps her arms around my neck.
We embrace each other for a couple of seconds then hear Mari come in.
"What did I miss?" She asks.
I smile and motion her over, she comes over and joins the embrace.
Later that night, we had already put Jenny to bed so now we're going to bed.
Me and Mari lie down in bed, say good night to each other and fall asleep.
We're awoken an hour later by Jenny screaming from her room.
I instantly jump out of bed and rush out of the bedroom with Mari close behind me.
We run down the hall and I open Jenny's bedroom door, and this time Mari's in front of me and gets to Jenny before me.
I kneel on the floor next to Mari as she sits on the bed with Jenny's face buried in her chest.
Jenny continues crying uncontrollably in her mother's arms as Mari shushes her softly and strokes her hair to comfort her.
The nightmares must be getting worse.
"Sweetheart calm down and tell me about the bad dream" Mari says, softly.
Jenny then takes her head away from Mari's chest and looks at us with so much fear.
"It was...n't a...a dr... dream" She says, inbeween sobs.
"What do you mean?" Mari asks, confused, panic in her eyes.
Jenny then moves her shaking arm and points at the window that I'm sat right next to that is only six inches away from Jenny's bed.
"Mommy's monster" Jenny says.
I look at Mari in panic and she looks at me with fear.
"Don't move" I order her and stand up.
I look out the window and look into the backyard, I don't see anything for a few seconds but I see a dark, human figure hide behind Jenny's playhouse.
I knew instantly that it was Peter but how did he find us?
I step away from the window and look at Mari, she's holding Jenny's close to her.
I grab her hand.
"Mari, let's go. It's not safe here right now" I tell her.
We walk out the house in just our pjs, in the middle of the night.
Jenny walks close by my side and we get in the car.
We drive away from the house and go to Mari's parents house.
We told them our situation and they were happy for us to stay until our house was safe again.
