Quick note! Im going to be updating and fixing some chapters, but the story line won't change. Sorry I haven't updated in literally forever.

I looked up at the four-story house as I stepped out of the car, taking Grays hand in mine, "you lived here" he asked, looking at all the perfectly trimmed trees and hedges, "No I have never seen this place before" I told him.

"Its the palace" mom said stepping past us to the door. Two men stood at the large glass french doors, both in suits with a patch that looked like a shield with a crown sitting onto of a wolf head, "Welcome back Queen Emma" They said, opening up the two doors for us.

"that's weird" I mumbled following Mom and Klaus down the grand hallways were painted a bright white accent with gold, giving it a luxury feel. "I know, no matter how many time I have asked them to just called me by my name, they keep doing it," she said, before stopping at two large white doors.

She let out a sigh before opening them up, on the other side of the door were ten white pillar on each side of a red carpet that leads all the way down to my father who was seated in a red felted chair.

The room was lit with six chandeliers and with floor to ceiling windows between each pillar.

Dad dismissed the man that stood off to the side talking to him, the man nodded as he walked passed, "Emma" he said before looking over us all, "Tony" she smiled, carrying on the rest of the way.

"Sorry I couldn't greet you, I was talking with Tony about the upcoming week," Dad spoke, standing up making his way over to us.

He reached out to my mom, but Klaus stepped in front of her without a word, "and you are?" My dad asked with a slight tilt of his head, "Klaus, her protector" He took a small step back and wrapped his hand around moms.

Dad looked down at their hands and growled, Grayson and Damon stepped forward with their own growls, but Grays was louder. So loud that you could feel the vibrations through our feet.

Everyone's eyes including my dads, snapped to Grayson, "don't touch them" Gray growled taking another close step to my father. "Grays-" Emily began from her mate's arms, but mom stopped her, "Let him," mom said.

Dad looked into Grays' eyes and nodded, "I wasn't going too," dad said keeping his ground. They stood for a good thirty seconds looking at each other in the eyes, sizing each other up, before dad turned and slowly made his way to the chair.

"I plan to have you guy sworn in by the end of the week," he said once he sat down on the chair.

"That's not enough time to get them trained Alaric," Mom said walking after him and stopped once she reached the two steps that lead up to the chair. "They will have you, Emma," he said softly.

I noticed her eyes looking at the empty place next to him that looked a little dusty and marked up like there was another chair next to him at some point in time, "and where will you be?" I asked, leaving Grayson's grip to walk the rest of the way and stand by my mom, "not that I'm very fond of you, but everyone needs a father" I added.

His eyes grew sad as he looked at the floor then at us, "I would like to be with you, but I'll have to stay and lead this pack after everything is done" he sighed, looking over at mom with a silent message in his eyes.

He stood up again with a forced smile, "how about I give you guys a tour" he said, stepping closer to get down the stairs. I flinched back into my mom's arms, making Grayson come to my side in less than a second, "I'm sorry" dad said, taking the last step down and stepped away to create a distance.
