Forbidden relationships always end up being forgiven.
Only Mapleshade was truly punished and never forgiven.* DISAGREE!!! Unless the point of the punishment is that its unfair, morally, forbidden relationships should be forgiven. The only crime they committed was finding love across borders and daring to not pledge blind loyalty to their birth Clan.
If forbidden relationships cause each cat pain because they must fight each other, maybe the answer shouldn't be "we should ban these relationships", but maybe your answer should instead be "how about we just stop fighting for dumb reasons so we don't have to cause them pain."
I have to say this again: if the point of this trope is that these punishments are unfair and unjust, that's a great plot point! A part of Mapleshade's exile came from the fact that the father, Appledusk, murdered a beloved member of the Clan, not just the forbidden relationship. While you could justify Mapleshade's punishment, her kits were definitely unfairly punished.
