"The Sniffles" Gaius x F!Reader

"Uuuuggggghhhhh this is grooooooossss."

"Yes yes yes I know it is but complaining won't solve anything." Currently the flu was going around the camp and you and Gaius were being put in charge of disposing the used handkerchiefs and cleaning the dirty clothes.

"The snot is gonna get all over my candy!!!"

"Then don't eat candy while washing the clothes." You, Gaius, Libra, Kellam, Stahl, Lon'qu, and Maribelle were the only ones not struck by the virus. Maribelle and Libra had to take care of the sick and Stahl and Kellam worked on recipes from Stahl's father's apothecary to try and help them. Which left you two to deal with the disposal of the 'infected' clothes.

"Gaius! Donnel's pants are drifting away in the river!"

"I'm not going in there to get them! It's too cold." He said grumpily. You sighed and waded into the water to get them. He was right it was cold. Whatever, you had to get this done.

You sat at your desk reading over some tactical books with a blanket shrouded around you. You still hadn't warmed up since that little swim to rescue Donnel's pants earlier that day.

"Jeez, now you're sick too Bubbles?" You jumped turning around to see Gaius standing in the doorway.

"It's just because of this dusty book." You say with an eye roll. He walks over to you and gets right into your face and bops your forehead.

"What th-"

"Yep your forehead is warm. Guess you're sick Bubbles."

"Tch, how could you tell from flicking my forehead? Besides it's not like I have everyone else's symptoms I just got a cold from the stream." You say matter-of-factly.

"Well then, you must not be contagious and I guess this is my fault... so I'll take care of you."

"Oh, uh... you don't have to."

"Geez Bubbles, I'm being nice here it's not like you get this everyday."

"Ok fine." You say awkwardly. Gotta say, you didn't expect this.

"..........so you need me to do anything or..."

"I'm studying so, no, you're free to do what you want." You say shifting uncomfortably in your chair. I mean it's not like you wanted to make Gaius your slave and you didn't really need anything you just had the sniffles.

"You're sick you should rest." He walks over and closes the book, "Here, get in bed and I'll get you some soup."

"Thanks..."

It's been two days since Gaius has started taking care of you. It's been kinda awkward but you don't mind spending time with the cute ginger.

"Hey Bubs, I guess you're all better now right?"

"Yeah."

"Uh, so, I uh. How do I say this." You turn and look at him. His face is bright red.

"What?"

"Uh I'm gonna miss spending time with ya."

"Huh?!" You can feel your face becoming bright red.

"Look well after taking care of you, you seem like the kinda person who needs to be taken care of." Was that an insult? "Err, I mean. You're messy and your head is stuck in those books so much you don't notice the huge messes you make. So I wanna help you with that. Bubbles, will you marry me?"

"An insult that leads to a marriage proposal? Maybe I'm sicker than I thought and hearing things." You say with a chuckle.

"I'm sorry that wa-"

"Yes, Gaius. I'll marry you."

"Thank you! You won't regret this! ....Anyways what I was saying about your hygiene."

"A man who walks around with a turkey leg in his pocket has no candle to hold to my hygiene."
