"Wooaaahh... I didn't think the big city would be like this!" Donnel said in amazement as the both of you stared down at the lit up city from up above.

"Yeah, it sure looks beautiful." You reply.

The army was returning to the city for political reasons. You could see the palace from the mountaintop where the Shepherds were camping for the night.

"So is this your first time seeing it?" You ask Donnel.

"Yeah... My Ma told me a little about what it looked like but she'd never been out here neither. It's so much bigger than the village. I wonder what's it like to live there."

"City life is a lot different," you say trying to explain from your foggy memories, "from what I understand is, its busy and crowded and no one really knows you. Unlike in the country where everyone knows everyone. There are a lot of shops and a lot of crime. Different areas like residential, industrial, that kind of stuff. I've only been to the palace here so I guess I don't know too much."

"Hmm I wonder if the folks here are nice?"

"I can't speak for them but one thing for sure is that it's beautiful. Maybe you should ask Lissa... sorry I don't know much." You say feeling bad you can't explain.

"Oh, r-right I forgot about the memory loss... sorry." Donnel said suddenly flustered.

"No you're fine it's no-"

"It's not fine!" He suddenly interrupts you,"You've been so nice to me and telling me all this stuff and I'm here talking about my Ma and the rest of my family and you don't even remember yours!" You were stunned

"Donnel don't blame yourself. It's okay I'm happy here I am now. My past doesn't bother me anymore. Come on, let's go to bed and we can spend the day in the city." You say trying to get off the subject of your past.

"...what would you like to do?"

"Hmm how about we go into the city and spend the day at the fair? Or maybe the library?"

"You must have always liked to read," you glanced at him wishing he wouldn't blame himself for this, "I bet you had time with a buncha smart lads and a whole future ahead of you." He started shaking.

"Donnel please don't. I don't care about my past I like being with the Shepherds and I love being with you." You laid your head on his shoulder and he hugged you back you didn't want him to be so miserable.

"Please, I don't want to have to dwell on the past. I want to look forward to the future. A future with you and me." You say while cuddling up closer to him.
