Groot took Drax out of the yellow pool, and pricked him with his sharp branch finger to wake him up. When Drax awoke, he took a few very deep breaths.
Then Rocket's pod landed, and before they knew it, the TARDIS was materialising. The Doctor then approached Drax, tending to him. 'Drax, are you OK?' he asked. 'I'm fine,' Drax replied. 'I don't need a doctor.' 'Well, I am not a Doctor of medicine,' the Doctor began, 'but sometimes, I think you need me.'
'How?' Drax asked. But before the Doctor could answer, an angry, agitated Rocket emerged from his pod. 'Blasted idiot,' he snapped, 'They're all idiots! Quill just got himself captured. None of this would have happened if you didn't try to single handedly take on a FRICKIN' ARMY!'
'He's right, Drax,' the Doctor said. 'Maybe you should actually think before you go over the top over wanting to kill somebody so bad.' 'You're both right,' Drax said, 'I was a fool. All the anger, all the rage, was just to cover my loss.' The Doctor put his hand on Drax's shoulder, as he and Groot looked at him pitifully. But Rocket didn't care. 'Oh boo hoo,' he said, '"My wife and child are dead."' Groot gasped.
'Rocket, that is going way too far,' the Doctor said. 'Can you let me talk to him please?!'
'No, I don't care if it's mean!' Rocket replied. 'Everybody's got dead people. It's no excuse to get everybody else dead along the way!'
'Rocket's actually right,' the Doctor said to Drax. 'And let me tell you this. My own daughter was shot dead in front of me. I was so angry, I pointed a gun at her killer's head. But I eventually put the gun down and told him these three words -"I never would"! And neither should you!' He suddenly became louder when he said this. Then he continued in a quieter tone. 'Because look at what has just happened. Your wife and daughter wouldn't have been proud of this, would they?'
There was a moment of silence. 'No,' Drax replied. Then another moment of silence. 'Come on Groot,' Rocket said, 'Ronan has the stone. The only chance we all have is to get to the other side of the universe as fast as we can, and maybe, just maybe we will be able to live full lives before that whack-job ever gets there.'
'Is that what we're going to do, then, Rocket?' the Doctor asked. 'He will get there, before we can all live full lives. Do you want to stop your own paranoia, about where he might strike next? Because I have an idea. I'm going to save him. And nothing in this whole universe, not Yondu, not Ronan, not even YOU, are ever going to stop me! EVER!' The Doctor prepared to enter the TARDIS. 'I am Groot,' Groot said. 'Save them? How?' Rocket asked. 'I am Groot.' Groot replied. 'I know they're the only friends we've ever had,' Rocket said, 'but there's an army of Ravagers around them, and there's only three of us, and all he has is a flying blue box, which happens to be bigger on the inside!'
Drax then stood up, standing next to the Doctor and Groot. 'Four,' he said. Then the three of them stared towards Rocket, who decided to let out his rage - on a few blades of grass. 'You're... making...me...beat...up...grass!' he yelled. 'That's not saving him, is it?' the Doctor replied. 'I'll get the TARDIS and I'll materialise inside their ship. Then you arrive in the Milano, and pick them up, OK?' He walked towards the TARDIS. 'And when you get there, you three, don't do anything stupid,' he said, before entering the TARDIS, which after a few seconds, then dematerialised. 'Come on Groot and Drax,' Rocket said. 'Let's go get him.'Meanwhile, aboard the Dark Aster, Ronan was in possession of the Orb, and was speaking with Thanos over the intercom. 'The Orb is in my possession,' Ronan said, 'as I promised.' 'Bring it to me,' Thanos replied. 'Yes, that was our agreement,' Ronan said, 'Bring you the Orb, and you will destroy Xandar for me. However, now I know it contains an Infinity Stone, I wonder what use I have for you.' He picked up the Orb, and carried it as he said this. 'Boy,' Thanos warned, 'I would reconsider your current course!'
But Ronan didn't listen, opening the Orb, revealing the glowing purple Infinity Stone inside. 'Master! You cannot!' Korath warned. 'Thanos is the most powerful being in the universe!' But attracted to the power of the stone, he still wouldn't listen. 'Not anymore,' he bragged, as he then pulled the Stone straight out of its casing, feeling its power surge through his arm. The floor directly around him cracked as Nebula watched, delightfully. Ronan gestured to Korath to give him the hammer, to which Korath quickly agreed, and he then proceeded to place the Stone inside the hammer, as Thanos watched in disappointment. 'YOU CALL ME "BOY"!' Ronan bellowed. 'I will unfurl 1000 years of Kree justice on Xandar, AND BURN IT TO ITS CORE! Then Thanos, I'm coming for YOU!' Thanos then turned off the intercom. He turned to Nebula. 'After Xandar,' she asked, 'you're going to kill my father?' 'You dare to oppose me?' Ronan replied. 'You see what he has turned me into.' Nebula said, 'You kill him, and I will help you destroy a thousand planets.'
Meanwhile, on a Ravager ship, Peter was being savagely beaten by Yondu for deserting him. 'YOU BETRAY ME?' Yondu yelled. 'STEAL MY MONEY?' Both times he hit Peter in the balls. 'Stop it, leave him alone!' Gamora yelled. But suddenly, a whirring noise could be heard, as the familiar police box came into view. Then the Doctor opened the doors, with a look of quiet, but great rage on his face. A few of the Ravagers backed away in fear. Peter was still reeling in pain, from both hits. 'Stop this, now.' the Doctor warned. But Yondu ignored him and turned to Peter, who was looking at him angrily, heavily breathing. 'When I picked you up as a kid, these boys wanted to eat you!' Yondu yelled. 'They ain't never tasted any Terran before! I saved your life!' 'Oh will you shut up about that? God!' Peter replied. 'Twenty years, you been throwing that in my face, like it's some great thing, not eating me. Normal people don't even think about eating somebody else! Much less that person having to be grateful for it! You abducted me, man. You stole me from my home and from my family.' 'You don't give a damn about your Terra!' Yondu yelled before the Doctor grabbed his arm, with an expression of the utmost fury on his face. 'How do you know, Yondu?' he said. 'How do you know that this poor man has a family on Earth, who are probably suffering greatly and do not stop thinking about him EVERY DAY, EVEN THOUGH THEY KNOW THAT BECAUSE OF PEOPLE LIKE YOU, HE'S NEVER COMING BACK?!'
There was a stunned silence throughout the room. 'How could you,' the Doctor yelled, 'take away, from a perfectly innocent child, their normal life, an adventure which he will now never EVER be able to experience!' 'Doctor, stop it!' Peter said. 'Let him go.' The Doctor then let go, still staring at Yondu. 'You're scared,' he said to Quill, 'because you're soft! IN HERE! Right here!'
'Yondu, listen to me.' Gamora said. 'Ronan's got something called an Infinity Stone!' 'I know what he's got, girl,' Yondu replied. 'Then you know we must get it back!' Gamora replied. 'He's gonna use it to wipe out Xandar,' she said, as Kraglin looked worried and concerned over the safety of his home planet. 'We have to warn them. Billions of people will perish!' 'Is that what they've been filling your head with, boy?' Yondu said, 'SENTIMENT?!' He slapped him in the face. 'Eating away at your brain like maggots?!'
'Or is it just common sense?' the Doctor replied. 'Why should I listen to you anyway?' Yondu said. 'All you have is a box!' The Doctor then slowly turned around. 'I can do whatever the hell I like!' he yelled. 'YOU KNOW THE STORIES, YOU KNOW WHO I AM! But you simply have NO IDEA, what I could do to you! I do, but I would rather not do it in this moment, because I would prefer if NOBODY GETS HURT!'
'Oh, that's it,' Yondu said. He pulled the arrow out, and whistled, sending it to Peter's threat. 'NO!' Gamora said. 'Sorry boy,' Yondu said, 'but captain's gotta teach his men what happens to people who cross him.' 'Captain's gotta teach stuff,' Kraglin said, and the group agreed. 'What are you going to teach them?' the Doctor said, 'What are you going to teach them, by killing him? Well go on then, kill me. Teach them your silly little lesson, by killing me! WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! DO IT!' There was a pause. Yondu started to reconsider. 'Or are you just as scared as you say he is? Do you have the 'sentiment' as you call it? Is it eating away at your brains like maggots as well?'
'You kill me now,' Peter said, 'you are saying goodbye to the biggest score you have ever seen.' Yondu turned around, smirking. 'The Stone?' he scoffed. 'I hope you got something better than that. Because ain't nobody stealing from Ronan.' 'We got a ringer,' Peter said. 'Is that right?' Yondu asked. 'She knows everything there is to know about Ronan,' Peter said, 'his ships, his army...' 'Everything,' the Doctor added. 'He's vulnerable,' Gamora said. 'Hey what do you say, Yondu, huh?' Peter asked, 'me and you taking down a mark side by side like the old days?' Yondu stared blankly for a moment, he looked at the Doctor who indicated towards Peter, in an agreeable fashion. With a whistle, Yondu put the arrow back in his pocket and laughed, embracing Peter. 'Let him go!' he said, laughing along with everyone else. Peter looked at the Doctor, who smiled. 'You always did have a scrote, boy!' Yondu said. Gamora freed herself forcefully. 'That's why I kept you on a young'un.' Yondu continued. But suddenly the room shook. Everyone then went to the ship's cockpit, as the other ship kept firing. It was the Milano, being piloted by Rocket and Groot, and Drax stood on top of it with a rocket launcher. 'Oh, no.' the Doctor muttered.
'Attention idiots.' Rocket announced over the intercom, 'the lunatic on top of this craft is holding a Hadron Enforcer. A weapon of my own design.' 'What the hell?' Yondu said. 'If you don't hand over our companions now,' Rocket continued, 'he's gonna tear your ship a new one. A VERY BIG new one!' 'I ain't buyin' it!' Yondu said. 'I'm giving you to the count of five,' Rocket said. '5, 4, 3...' he began before being quickly interrupted by Quill. 'Hold on! Rocket it's me for gods sake! The Doctor is here too! We've figured it out, we're fine!' he panicked. 'Oh hey Quill, what's going on?' Rocket said, before coming aboard the ship with the Milano.
