A Parting Gift

When Peter had some time alone, he took the present that he had been given as a child by his mother shortly before her death and opened it. Inside contained a final letter from his mother, which read this:
Peter,
I know these last few months have been hard for you, and I know it's because of the special bond that we share. But I am going to a better place, and I will be okay, and I will always be with you. You are the light of my life, my precious son, my little Star-Lord.
Love Mom.
As he read this, with tears slowly welling up in his eyes, the whirring noise could be heard once again, and he turned to his left to see the TARDIS materialise right next to him. The Doctor then emerged from the TARDIS, and upon recognising Peter's loss, sat next to him and put his arms around him. Peter then opened the present, which was revealed to be a second Awesome Mix from his mother. He put the cassette into the wall and it began playing. As the cassette played, Gamora appeared, and smiled at Peter and the Doctor, in a way that would stop him from feeling alone in times of hardship.

Meanwhile Yondu was on board his ship with the celebrating Ravagers, and he felt a slight curiosity to open the supposed Orb that had been given to him by Peter. He opened it - and found not the stone, but a troll doll, which greatly amused him. The real Power Stone was being stored in the Nova Corps headquarters, in a vault which no one could break into. A vault they thought no one could break into anyway. Meanwhile, Dey was back home with his family on Xandar, who had been saved by the Guardians a few days earlier.

Onboard the Milano, and having saved Xandar from annihilation, Peter, the Doctor and their friends were wondering what to do next as Rocket had a plant pot on his lap - containing a new Groot seedling. 'What shall we do next?' Peter asked. 'Something good? Something bad? Bit of both?' 'Or maybe even travel in time,' the Doctor added. 'Not now,' Peter replied. 'We'll follow your lead, Star-Lord,' Gamora said. 'Bit of both,' Peter replied as he flew the Milano away, with the TARDIS on board, ready to set off on some more adventures and escapades among the cosmos.
