The group were left reeling after killing Ronan, with cuts and bruises all over their bodies, and them heavily breathing. 'Well, well, well, that was quite the light show,' Yondu said, with an army of approaching Ravagers. 'But you've got some business to attend to before all the nookie-nookie starts.'
Gamora looked at Peter. 'Peter, you can't,' she said. 'You gotta reconsider this, Yondu,' Peter said, 'I don't know who you're selling this to, but the only way the universe can survive is if you give it to the Nova Corps.'
'I may be as pretty as an angel,' Yondu said, revealing the arrow in his pocket, 'but I sure as hell ain't one. Hand it over son.' He stretched out his hand. 'Peter, give it to him,' the Doctor said. Without Yondu looking, he switched out the Orb, then handed the fake Orb to him. Yondu smirked and laughed as he left with the Ravagers. 'Yeah, Quill turned out OK,' Kraglin said. 'Probably good we didn't deliver him to his dad like we were hired to do.' 'Yeah,' Yondu added, 'that guy was a jackass!' And upon saying it, the Ravager ships flew off.
'He's gonna be so pissed when he discovers I switched out the Orb on him.' Peter said, pulling out the container which held the real Orb, and causing the Doctor to chuckle. 'He was gonna kill you Peter,' Gamora replied. 'I know.' Peter replied. 'But he's about the only family I ever had.' 'No,' Gamora said, 'he wasn't.'Meanwhile Rocket was still mourning Groot, holding one of his twigs. But soon Drax came over, and petted Rocket, sharing sympathy for his loss. The Doctor looked at them in pity before a familiar whirring noise could be heard, which the Doctor ran towards as the TARDIS slowly appeared in thin air. The Doctor laughed in victory as his TARDIS came to him. 'Doctor,' Peter asked, 'how did it get here without a pilot?' 'It flew itself,' the Doctor said. 'Each TARDIS has a mind and personality of its one, which can sometimes make time travel difficult.' The Doctor then paused and thought for a moment. 'In fact,' he said, 'since the Milano has most likely been destroyed, would you fancy a trip in the TARDIS to the Nova Corps headquarters?' Rocket looked up and a smile grew on his face. 'You're kidding!' he shouted. 'No, I'm not,' the Doctor replied. Rocket cheered, and ran straight towards the TARDIS, cheering, whooping and running around the console room. Peter and Gamora then entered the TARDIS, and Gamora had an expression of amazement on her face. 'What do you think, Gamora?' Peter asked. 'Of this ship?' Gamora replied. 'All I can say is it's bigger on the inside!'
'I know,' the Doctor replied. 'How is this...possible?' Drax replied, entering the TARDIS himself. 'Time Lord science,' the Doctor said, closing and locking the door, before pressing a few buttons on the console. 'Alright then,' he said. 'Destination, Nova Corps headquarters!' He then put his hand on the lever, and Peter and Rocket put theirs on his hand as well. 'You ready?' the Doctor said. 'I've always been ready.' Peter replied. 'Hold on tight,' the Doctor said as he pulled down the handbrake, causing the TARDIS to shake as it began its flight, with the time rotor in the centre of the console moving up and down, and making the familiar whirring noise. Everyone cheered and whooped with joy. 'Woohoo!' Rocket and Peter yelled, which the Doctor smiled at. Gamora had a huge smile on her face, and Drax was laughing. Then the whirring resumed. 'We're almost there!' the Doctor said, as the TARDIS and its time rotor slowed down gradually before a huge THUD could be heard and felt. The Doctor then opened the door checking outside. 'Yeah, we're definitely there.' he said. 'Come on.' The group then stepped out of the TARDIS where they were greeted by the towering structure of the Nova Corps headquarters, and then by Nova Prime who stepped out to meet them. 'Welcome, Doctor,' she said, 'and welcome, Guardians. Follow me, as we have something to tell Peter.' They followed them.
A few minutes later, Peter was astonished at the biological scan they had done on him when he was arrested. 'Why would you even know about this?' he asked. 'When we arrested you we noticed an anomaly in your nervous system.' Dey replied. 'I'm not Terran?' Quill asked. 'You're half Terran,' Nova Prime answered, 'your mother was of Earth, your father...he's something very ancient we've never seen here before.' Peter looked up at the Doctor. 'It's not me, Peter.' the Doctor said. 'But bring up my scan, because I have something to show Peter.' The Doctor's X ray was then shown revealing that the Doctor mainly had a human appearance but with one major difference.
'You have two hearts?' Peter asked. 'I do,' the Doctor said, 'as does everyone from Gallifrey.' 'That's pretty cool!' Peter said. 'We are sure of that, as we had thought all of the Time Lords had perished in the Time War with the Daleks.' Nova Prime said. 'On behalf of the Nova Corps, we extend to you our profound thanks, for helping to save Xandar. If you will follow Denarian Dey, he has something to show you.' 'Thank you, Nova Prime,' Peter replied. Drax and Gamora were walking together. 'Your wife and child may rest in peace knowing that you have avenged them.' Gamora said. 'Not really,' Drax replied. 'Ronan was just a puppet. It's really Thanos I need to kill.'
Gamora looked at him in pity as they headed outside, where a brand new Milano, which looked a lot like the original with some upgrades, was revealed. 'We tried to keep it as close to the original as possible,' Dey said. 'Wow,' Quill replied. 'Thank you.' 'I have a family.' Dey said. 'They're alive because of you.' He paused for a moment. 'Your criminal records have also been expunged.' Dey continued. 'However, I have to warn you against breaking any laws in the future.' 'Seems reasonable,' the Doctor replied. 'Question,' Rocket began, 'what if I see something that I want to take, and it belongs to someone else?' 'You will be arrested,' Dey replied. 'But what if I want it more than the person who has it?' Rocket asked. 'It's still illegal.' Day replied. 'That doesn't follow,' Rocket said. 'No, I want it more sir, don't you understand?' Gamora began to smirk before leading Rocket away. 'What if someone does something irksome and I decide to remove his spine?' Drax asked. 'That's...that's actually murder. One of the worst crimes of all, so also illegal.' Drax shrugged in agreement before walking away. 'They'll be fine, Dey,' Peter said. 'Me and the Doctor are gonna keep an eye on them.' 'You two?' Dey replied. The Doctor and Peter looked at each other with happiness. 'Yeah, us,' the Doctor replied. 'Yeah,' Peter said. 'I'm going to get the TARDIS and land it on board the Milano, I'll be right back.' the Doctor said, walking towards the TARDIS as Peter went towards his new Milano.
