The cover up

Monday was a whole new day for me, I hadn't talked to Lucy since I dropped her off that morning after the party.

We had agreed that we'd completely forget about what happened the night of the party and move past it.

But the only thing I can think about is the way we did those things in secret.

We didn't go all the way but it's enough for me to be stuck on her.

My mind is clouded of thoughts of her.

Not innocent ones, and definently not brotherly ones.

But I knew I probably didn't have the same effect on her, she probably has already forgotten about that night like we agreed.

I walk through the double doors of the school and my chest tightens in anxiety.

My biggest fear is having someone somehow know what we did.

If anyone found out it'd be the end of me.

"Yo, Flamebrain!" I am ripped out of my thoughts by Gray resting an arm over my shoulders.

I didn't even notice him sneak up behind me.

I glance at him out of the corner of my eye and give him a slight nod "what's up?"

The only thing I can do now is try to act normal.

"Everything work out alright between you and Luce?" His question catches me off guard for a moment, before I remember the cover story I fed him the night of the party.

We only took two cars to the party, and when Lucy and I took one, it caused a whole storm of questions.

We obviously couldn't hide the hickeys we left behind either, so it was left to me to make up some bullshit story.

I told Gray that I caught Lucy with some dirt bag and broke up their little moment, and in return she ruined my chance in bagging a girl.

Which led us getting into a fight and then her demanding I drive her home.

I didn't bother covering up the marks on my neck, even though they made me uncomfortable when people stared curiously.

I shrug in response to Gray "I don't know, I haven't talked to her since"

The surprise on his face confuses me "your fight must have been serious"

I furrow my eyebrows as we walk together through the packed hallway "what do you mean?"

He snorts  "What do you think?" His dark hair falls into his eyes as he turns his head away from me "You and Lucy are best friends, it's weird not to see you guys attached at the hip"

I shrug with his arm still wrapped around my shoulders "Best friends fight."

"It's a weird thing to fight over though, she knows you're like her brother, she shouldn't be mad if you look out for her" he sniffs a bit as we squeeze our way into the cafeteria.
