'We have calcium in our bones, Iron in our veins-' Camila thought, making Lauren's head snap at her seat mate.

'Carbon in our souls and Nitrogen in our brains'

Lauren stared at Camila.

'93 percent stardust with souls made of flames

We are all just stars that have people names'

Lauren looked down, and smiled. It has been two hours since the cafeteria incident and they are at their third period, Chemistry.

Lauren didn't peg Camila as someone who loves poetry. While still confused as to how Camila can make outside thoughts go away, Lauren didn't want to overwhelm the girl. As soon as she felt she can manage, she nodded silently and thanked Camila for holding her.

Normani and Dinah had a different class after lunch, so they silently asked Camila to look out for Lauren. Lauren heard their thoughts and she was thankful to have such caring friends.

"Nikita Gill. Have you heard of her?" Lauren queried, despite knowing the answer.

Camila's eyes lit up and her hands were suddenly flying everywhere.

"I do! Oh my God, I love her!" Camila continued to blabber about the poet but Lauren isn't listening. She's just looking. Staring. Wondering.

"-and then her The Way Damaged People Love is an-" Camila stopped realizing she was talking too much.

"Oh God, I'm sorry. I'm talking too much aren't I?" she lowered her gaze, ashamed.

"No, it's okay. I love watching you talk so animatedly. I didn't know you love poetry this much." Lauren assured her.

"I do. And not just poetry. I love literature. I love books."

"I love books too! They are like-uhm, they are my escape. They silence the thoughts I don't want to have."

"What's your-" Camila was cut off by someone clearing their throat. Someone who is standing by the board and looking at them disapprovingly. Someone who is their teacher.

"Sorry." Camila mumbled to their teacher and focused herself again.

Lauren took out a piece of her notepad and scribbled something. She glanced at her teacher, making sure he isn't looking, and dropped the note to Camila's chair.

'It's To Kill a Mockingbird' -the note read. Camila smiled, taking the note and slipping it to her journal.

'That's my favorite book too.'

And it's Lauren's turn to smile at Camila's thought.

Camila sat down on her bed. Looking back at how her day went, she can say it's more than okay. She didn't expect to easily adapt to the new environment. She got new friends and they're cool. Dinah is funny and she's sure they're gonna be best friends along the way. She got four classes with her and she's so happy knowing she won't be alone. She doesn't have class with Normani though, but seeing she usually sat with Dinah and Lauren during lunch, she knows they'll be good friends too. And Lauren. Oh God, Lauren.
