(a/n) let's do this!
About a week later...
The day was breezy, the warm colours of leaves moving with the wind. Jeongguk sits on his wooden chair, staring intently at the work in front of him, lately he had only been working at school, and only pretended to work at home, he hated studying, especially because his mum wanted him to.
"Don." The teacher starts marking the roll, her stern voice being very intimidating, her pearly white glasses pushed up close to her eyes as she skims through all the students names one by one.
"Here" the boy calls out from the other side of the classroom with a nasally voice, sticking up his hand.
"Aggie."
"Here." a little girl replies.
Soon after another few names pass, she finally makes it to Jeongguk's.
"Jeongguk."
"Here." Jeongguk calls out, looking up at the teacher just so she knew it was him calling out his name, she nods.
"Yugyeom."
(...)
"Yugyeom." She repeats once again, looking around the classroom.
(...)
"Kim Yugyeom. Has anyone seen Yugyeom?" She questions, looking Jeongguk's way, knowing that they were close friends.
Jeongguk flashes a confused expression, looking over at Yugyeom's seat to see nothing but an empty chair. He hadn't seen him in days, he figured it was just the flu, and not to worry too much, but now, he couldn't help it. Where the hell is Yugyeom?
-----
*ring* *ring*
Jeongguk brings the phone up close to his ear, waiting for Yugyeom to pick up and tell him that he was okay, to tell him that he didn't need to worry.
This person's phone has been disconnected, please-
Jeongguk groans immediately clicking the red button and taking it off his ear, looking at the screen of his phone and staring at Yugyeom's contact photo.
"Ugh, Yugyeom, where are you?" Jeongguk whispers to himself.
He had no choice but to go to his house and check if he was there, he couldn't think of anywhere else Yugyeom could be.
---
*knock* *knock*
The door swings open to reveal Yugyeom's mother standing behind it, she was always really nice, really welcoming. But Yugyeom always said that she was a devil in disguise, and that she and his father are both very strict.
"Mrs Kim?" Jeongguk questions, looking at at her with worry, wonering if Yugyeom was okay.
"Jeongguk, how are you? Come in , come in." she welcomes, quite surprised to see him, since the last time she saw him was on orientation day for the start of highschool, stepping aside to let Jeongguk in, closing the door behind him.
"Hi Mrs Kim, I just was wondering... What happened to Yugyeom? I haven't seen him at school for a few days and he hasn't been picking up my calls, so I had no choice but to come here." Jeongguk starts, Mrs Kim nodding along to what Jeongguk had to say. She also thought of him as a responsible young man.
"Oh." She lightly chuckles, as if to say, it's not a big deal. "You can go up and see him, he's in his room. Well, he has been for the past three days." She sighs, pointing to Yugyeom's bedroom upstairs, sounding mildly annoyed by Yugyeom.
"Is he sick?" Jeongguk questions, wondering what would cause him to be in his room for the past three days.
She shakes her head, showing welcoming arms up the stairs, before walking off to the kitchen.
Jeongguk shrugs, walking up the stairs, heading for Yugyeom's room.
Yugyeom's door was slightly ajar, and Jeongguk knocks first, before walking into Yugyeom's bedroom.
He opens the door to see a dimly lit room with the curtains closed, and a big lumpy ball of bedsheets lying in the centre of Yugyeom's bed.
"Yugyeom?" Jeongguk wonders, looking at the big lump with confused eyes.
Yugyeom peeks his little eyes out of the covers and hides immediately once he found out who it was.
"Go away." Yugyeom groans, hiding back under the lump of bedsheets.
"What happened?" Jeongguk questions loudly, walking up to Yugyeom's bed and sitting down next to the pile of bed sheets that contained a Yugyeom.
(...)
"Yugyeom." Jeongguk tries again, placing a hand on the top of the lump of sheets.
"Jeongguk..." Yugyeom starts, his voice sounding unsteady, like he was on the bridge of crying. "W-Why did you ever introduce me to Hoseok?" Yugyeom barely managed to say the rest, definitely sounding like he was crying now.
Jeongguk's face instantly turns into one of sympathy, wondering why Yugyeom was saying that.
"What do you mean?"
"Jeongguk, i've never been so embarrassed in my life." Yugyeom sobs, the lump of bedsheets shaking as he sobs loudly under it.
"Is this about the confession? What happened?" Jeongguk questions, facing his body more to covered Yugyeom.
"I feel stupid, that's what." Yugyeom replies.
"Not only did he reject me, but he made me feel horrible about myself. I don't know why I even tried. I can never face him, or the world again. I liked him so much. We were going to be a great couple, and now I can't like anyone. I'm too hurt" Yugyeom cries hardly. Jeongguk could really hear how heart broken Yugyeom was. Hoseok was Yugyeom's first real crush.
"What? That doesn't sound like Hoseok." Jeongguk replies with disbelief, never in his life has he ever heard this kind of stuff about Hoseok, never.
Jeongguk narrows his eyebrows and looks off to the distance, still in disbelief. Hoseok is literally the nicest guy you could ever meet? How can this be?
"Oh Gukie!" Yugyeom cries, bursting out of the sheets to reveal his red puffy face, falling into Jeongguk's arms and pulling him into a tight hug.
"I don't think i'm ready for a relationship any more." Yugyeom whimpers, his tears falling onto the fabric of Jeongguk's shoulder, making it damp.
