That evening, Biggs and Dash Jr. came to their parents' quarters to join their mother in the clearing for practice. As usual, they had hidden their lightsabers to keep the secret that they were Jedi.
Nomi was a little disappointed that Corran wasn't with them after her husband had told her about his conversation with their youngest son. But if she was honest with herself, she had to admit that she hadn't really believed that Corran would come.
The three were just about to leave when there was a knock at the door.
Nomi opened the door and was standing in front of Corran. She wondered whether he had come to reproach her again or whether the conversation with his father had had any effect.
"Come in, Corran," she said, making way for him.
The young Jedi entered hesitantly when he saw the expectant looks on his brothers' faces.
"I'm sorry, Mama. Father opened my eyes," he took a deep breath before continuing. "I'd like to train with you, if you don't mind."
His mother smiled and hugged him.
"Why should I mind? I'm glad you no longer refuse the gift the Force has given you, Corran. But now let's go."
Dash Jr. slapped his younger brother on the shoulder.
"You've finally come to your senses."
Together they made their way to the clearing in silence.
After a while, they had reached their destination and all four of them took out their lightsabers, which had previously been hidden in backpacks or satchels, and activated them.
Corran had the most unusual weapon of all. A double-bladed lightsaber with two yellow blades, which could also be quickly transformed into two single lightsabers.
The clearing was illuminated by the colored light of the blades as the four Jedi began their exercises. Concentrating, they went through the various stages of lightsaber combat before practicing with the training remote. The Force flowed between them and between them and their weapons, and Nomi sensed that Corran was finally at peace.
She leaned against a tree with her lightsaber still activated and admired the elegant yet powerful movements of her sons as they parried the attacks of the training device with their eyes closed. Every blow, every thrust was precise. Nomi smiled as she realized how much her sons had learned from Luke. The Jedi was startled when a shadow suddenly fell across her face. She had been too focused on watching her sons and had not noticed that they were no longer alone in the clearing.
"Why did you lie to me when I asked you about the glow in the clearing, Nomi?"
Shocked, the Jedi looked into Poe Dameron's face, which was illuminated green by her lightsaber.
"You and your sons ... you are Jedi," the commander said in astonishment.
Nomi nodded her head and was relieved to see that Dameron didn't seem upset.
"It's not just me and our sons, Tasherit is a Jedi too, Poe."
The young man raised an eyebrow.
"Why didn't you tell me? Do you trust me so little?"
Shaking her head, Nomi deactivated her lightsaber. Now she and Dameron stood in the darkness of the forest, lit only by the glow of the three young Jedi's lightsabers.
Poe turned and watched the young men, whom he knew only as X-wing pilots.
"I never thought I would see this with my own eyes one day," he finally said, turning to Nomi. "My mother told me about the Jedi and also that she and Luke Skywalker once rescued two Force Tree seedlings from an Imperial research facility on Vetine. Master Skywalker gave her one of these seedlings. My parents planted it near our house on Yavin 4, and it quickly grew into a majestic tree. When I was a child, I played in its shadow. You see that I have a positive view of the Jedi and the Force, Nomi."
The Jedi had been listening to him quietly.
"Please, Poe, don't tell anyone what you've seen here. Apart from you, only Ambassador Tarik, General Organa, Admiral Ackbar and Nien Nunb know that we are Jedi. And I want to keep it that way."
She looked at Dameron, who nodded thoughtfully.
"I won't tell anyone, Nomi. I promise."In the meantime, the triplets had finished their exercises, deactivated their lightsabers and Corran picked up the training remote lying in the grass. It gave them a hard time, but in the end nobody was hit by its laser beams. When he turned around, he was astonished to see Poe Dameron standing next to his mother. During the training, the three young Jedi were too focused on the training device to realize that they were no longer alone. Dash Jr. turned in the direction his brother was looking and grinned.
"It seems our secret is no longer a secret. Look who's visiting us, Biggs," he said, nudging his younger brother.
"Oh," was Biggs' only reaction.
Together they approached their mother and the commander.
"Now I know why the Rendar siblings are such damn good pilots," Dameron said and laughed.
Dash Jr. shook his head.
"We've never used the Force in combat, Poe."
Dameron raised his eyebrows skeptically.
"If you say so," he replied, turning to their mother. "We should get back to our quarters. Nomi, please be a little more careful when you and your sons are training. Promise me that?"
The Jedi nodded and put her lightsaber in her backpack. After her sons had also hidden their weapons in backpacks and satchels, they made their way back together, dimly lit by the glow rods they were carrying.
