The next time Corran saw Poe, the captain was furious.
"Do you know what that woman called me? Flyboy! She called me Flyboy!"
The young Rendar looked at him, not knowing what his friend was talking about.
"Who called you Flyboy?" asked Corran, who had no idea what had happened on the emergency bridge after he had left.
"Our new leader with the purple hair," Dameron spat, clenching his fist. "She said she knows my kind."
The captain paced around the room.
"She may know flyboys, but she knows nothing about me. Did you get that? She knows nothing!"
Corran nodded slowly.
"When she gets to know you better, she'll appreciate your skills on the yoke, Poe."
His commanding officer shrugged his shoulders.
"I don't care what she thinks of me. I know what I'm capable of."
Dameron finally sat down in a nearby chair.
Corran Rendar gave him a mischievous grin.
"We all know that, my friend. What worries me more than our purple-haired leader is how the First Order found us. I mean, we were in hyperspace. Have you ever heard that a ship can be tracked there?"
Dameron pondered his friend's question.
"Not that I'm aware of. But somehow they've managed to do just that, it seems."
He stood up and shook his head.
"Whatever led them to us, I don't want that to happen again. Now I want to check on the general. There are too many rumors about her state of health. I need to see her with my own eyes."
Poe turned, opened the door and left the room, leaving a thoughtful Jedi behind.

Now that he was alone again, Corran paced around the room.
He tried to imagine how the First Order had managed to track the Resistance fleet even in hyperspace. The only way, it seemed to him, was for Kylo Ren to use the Force to track them. But he somehow doubted that his former friend had become so powerful in his Force abilities. Perhaps Master Skywalker would be able to, but not the Jedi Master's nephew, Ben Solo, who turned against his own uncle and everything he believed in to become Kylo Ren.
The young Jedi shivered as he remembered what had happened years ago. The night when the academy had been destroyed and the love of his life had been killed. And now the man who had done it was after them to destroy the Resistance once and for all.
Corran wondered if it was Kylo who had fired the fateful shot that destroyed the Admiral Raddus' bridge and nearly killed the general. That would have meant he was prepared to kill his mother as well, having already killed his father on Starkiller Base. Corran shook his head. He couldn't imagine doing that to his own parents.

The young man looked out the viewport where the streaks of hyperspace passed and wondered what the future held for him.
