Thanks for lunch

Finally half way through the day, it was my lunch break but I wasn't feeling up to going to the diner to grab anything, so I planned on just going to the vending machine to grab a granola bar, but first I wanted to call home and see how Dinah was handling the kids, it was weird at first, getting used to a boy in the house.

Really I enjoyed the idea after a while, Leonard was like a son I never had, although I had lost Laurel, I still had two kids, granted one wasn't really mine, and that one had a growing crush on the other, but they care about each other, even if they don't know it yet, I was just happy they looked out for each other.

The phone rang and rang, "I hope Dinah's okay." I said just before hearing a knock on the wall, "What about me?" Dinah stood in the doorway with Leonard and Sara behind her, "I just tried calling, sorry, I was worried." Sara came over, sat in a desk across from where I was sitting, Leonard followed behind her and sat beside her before saying "We were just bringing you lunch." With a smirk crossing his face, "Glad you're feeling better Leonard." I said before turning to Dinah, "And thanks for lunch." She replied silently with a smile before handing me one of the bags.

Sara was sitting quietly with her head on the desk after she finished off her fries, "What's wrong with her?" I asked Dinah but Leonard answered, "Dinah had her helping clean the entire house." I laughed when Sara grunted, "The entire house?" I asked as I glanced over to Dinah where she was smiling, "The entire house, and she's exhausted now." She patted Sara on the back before continuing to eat.

Dinah was chatting with me while I finished eating, we were talking about different things, Sara and Leonard were talking too, they were deep into conversation about the way Sara fought with Mick, I nodded for Dinah to look over at them, Sara was stealing Leonard's fries and he clearly encouraged it, when Dinah looked over at them I knew she seen it too by the smile she gave me, "Do you two want to get going?" Dinah asked, breaking the two out of conversation, "Sure." Leonard answered, Sara just nodded agreeing with him.

I told Sara "Come give me a hug before you leave." she begrudgingly hugged me before walking toward the door with her mother, "Leonard come here for a second." I waved the girls out of the door while he stayed behind, "You care about her, right?" He tried brushing it off at first but then finally said he did, "Make sure no one ever hurts her then." I said as I offered him a hug, "You're like a son to me now, you have to give me a hug once in a while too, no matter how much you and Sara hate them." He just smiled and hugged me before saying goodbye then heading out the door to catch up with Sara and Dinah.
