seulgi waited at her seat, feeling like dashing out of it. god help me, she thought.
it wasn't her goddamn fault that joohyun had pulled her into this. the older girl had suggested that seulgi needed "a fucking life" and pulled up her contacts. minutes later, she was shoved out of the door, clad in a grey shirt and black jeans. she yelped when she almost got hit by a car.
and now here she was, waiting at a coffee shop for a blind date.
"just call her seungwan!" joohyun chirped as seulgi complained about how she didn't need a blind date to solve her life problems (in fact, she was plenty sure getting a girlfriend wouldn't solve the problem of yerim stuffing a sock into her mouth every sunday morning). she was given a very brief description: "she looks like your future wife."
leave it to 26 year olds to dictate your tuesdays.
she sighed and pulled out her sketchbook, taking note of the glass cups placed neatly on the counter and the scene of the barista preparing drinks. then she started to draw, filling up her free time.
she felt her eyelids get heavy and leaned back in her chair. she figured that "seungwan" wouldn't be coming anytime soon anyway.
after what seemed like a minute, she woke up to a face that looked like her ideal future wife's.
she jolted up in her seat, causing a number of items to fall from the table. the blonde girl in front of her just laughed. seulgi mumbled "shit, i'm sorry," multiple times.
she just continued to laugh as the bear picked up her art materials, trying not to curse when her 6B pencil fell again. she set them on the table, counted them, and put them back in her bag.
one thing was missing, and she panicked. my sketchbook my sketchbook oh my god where is it-
                              "you draw real nice."
she looked up at the girl, who had her sketchbook in her hand. but she wasn't looking at it (which seulgi was grateful for)- she was looking at her directly (not so much). "um, th-thanks, i guess?" she stuttered. she tried to look anywhere else but the girl's face, because wow, that face was distracting.
(she was already making plans to draw portraits.)
"you're cute," the girl laughed again. "joohyun told me that you were adorable and everything, and i honestly thought she was crushing on you or something because it sounded like an exaggeration, no one can be that cute- but wow. and you're pretty, too," she grinned, and seulgi felt heat rise up to her cheeks.
"thanks. no one ever tells me that on the first date, so-"
"first date?" seungwan propped her head on her palm. "this is a date?"
she thought for a while. "yeah, if you want it too," she'd regained her composure then, and she leaned back in her chair a little.
"i'd like that. a lot." seungwan replied, and seulgi could feel her eyes staring at her again. "so...... yeah, i guess this is the part where you introduce yourself. like how all dates go dictated by lame fanfiction writers."
she laughed. she hadn't felt so at ease in the whole year, in a small coffee shop, with one of the prettiest girls in the world. "kang seulgi, fourth year in seoul university. i'm an art major."
"no," seungwan's eyes went wide. "you're in the same university?! how haven't i seen you yet? uh-uh, son seungwan seoul university music major holy shit i'm a fourth year too!" she coughed, obviously having choked on her saliva. seulgi stifled a laugh. "i mean, most people call me wendy."
"i'd rather call you seungwan," she told the blonde girl. "if you want to, of course."
seungwan looked down, nervously laughing. (that was a first.) "yeah, yeah. call me anything you want."
                              "okay, windy."
"yah, kang seulgi! i never said you could call me that!" seungwan frantically cuts her off and seulgi laughs. like really laughs.
yep, joohyun was right. future wife material indeed.
