For what feels like an eternity upon hearing my new instructions I just sit at the kitchen table, staring at the notes I've made to the phone call.
I can't believe this guy is willing to kill a child because he thinks he's a sloth.
This is definitely a job I don't know if I will be able to finish it. Do I have a choice? I would lose all the people I love including my children if I chose not to do it. But how could I possibly place the pain I am fearing on other parents? Isn't it heartless? Isn't it selfish?
Selfish or not I feel in my heart that I will give in because losing my children? I simply can't. All I can do is to hope his parents could forgive me... someday anyway...because they might have done the same thing in my shoes.

2 Hours later I have figured out where the kid lives and when he will be home alone. It was quite easy really. All I had to figure out was his school timetable as well as the times when his parents are working. Pretty soon I found a time slot this afternoon when he would be alone. It would be tricky though, lighting a house on fire in bright sunlight without being seen.
I drive there about 5 Minutes early to check the surroundings for a moment. When it is a good moment and I am sure that I cannot be seen by any neighbours I go over to the letter box and slide a note inside before tiptoeing over to the living room window. I am lucky, the kids asleep on the couch. I make one round around the house making sure to fix all the exits securely so he cannot get out and then.... well then, I let the fire do it's job rushing off in my car as fast as possible.

POV Detective:
Detective Marty gets out of her car and stands astounded in front of a totally burnt down building. Over at the ambulance a woman was being treated, a man standing behind her, his hand on her shoulder. She is staring straight ahead, not reacting to anything.
A colleague approaches Marty. "Morning Marty." "Morning O'Mally. What have we got here?" "Family Drama I would say. But one that happened on purpose." "What? You mean someone set the house on fire on purpose?" "Worse. Someone killed this couples son. He was only 11. Still a kid." O'Mally sighs. "So I am guessing she's in shock, the way she's not reacting." "Wouldn't you be? Doc says we can't talk to them before tomorrow." "All right, let's have a look at the scene then, shall we?"
The tour around the house proves what O'Mally has told her. All possible exits are blocked. The boy had no chance. Plus, according to the doc, he had been sleeping anyway. Died because of the smoke before the flames even touched him. And still...his body is not recognisable in any way anymore.

POV George:
I've been crying all of the way home. The news of course were onto the story within few hours. The boy was dead, his job done, but he felt like killing himself now feeling ....indescribably guilty.
***
Arriving home George goes up to his bed, crying himself to a restless sleep.
