THEN... WE MET

Chapter nine..👣

James David POV

MY granddaughter had been my second laughter in life since the death of my wife Alyssa.
My late wife was a happy soul! Sadly she died of cancer right after our son Jack married Katherine and was unable to witness the birth of our granddaughter,looking at Kara right now brings back some old memories of Alyssa.

Alyssa was a person who never let something slip by her if it's fishy, she would dig out the dirt and find out the truth, she hated lies and preferred honesty to excuses now all this became Kara's habits too.

Now that I have told her,there is something that she knows in which many of us are unaware of, I know she will not rest and she would do whatever it takes to find out the truth.

Though part of me fears for her as well on what she may find out, I myself need to know what happened that day before the death of Katherine.

What I remember is that,

Right after the body was found,i rushed back to the house only to find my son terrified, shaking and even sweating then there was Kara who kept on drawing or writing on a piece of paper on something she herself couldn't quite figure.

Then I saw Philips, Hilary and Jessica coming from their room playing and Philips who always loved fighting Kara went and grabbed her by the hair but Kara seemed startled then she began fighting him,suddenly my phone rang and I took it out for a second,though I was on the phone I was frequently watching the kids, then I saw Jack whisper something to Jessica ,the minute I turned my head and kept on talking on the phone, suddenly I heard a loud cry, I turned around only to find Jack rushing to Kara who was bleeding on the head, terrified I ended the call and rushed back inside.

Lucky enough the injury did not bring any damages......but all through Kara's mother funeral Kara was quiet just observing everything,she did not even let a tear drop.

About one Month later Kara began mourning and crying every night for her mother, I think realization of her mother's death hit her at the time.

Jack rarely returned home,In a week he would come only thrice.

He became distance with Kara but as it looked it seemed as if he was afraid of her, I myself couldn't quite figure.

Then one day he disappeared before our eyes, leaving his daughter's full custody to me.

I simply thought that the son I raised and known was long gone, there was something going on that he failed on talking about and it was finishing him off, if only Kara could remember that day then maybe we would be enlightened.

On the next day, Kara received a call from Emelia informing her that a new venue had been found, yet she seemed so out of place and just agreed with her to taking care of the rest.

Yesterday's events disturbed her, she was walking around her room here and there like a confused soul well she was indeed confused.

"I hate that my brain is failing to cooperate with me, into remembering what I want to remember urgghh!! "

She threw herself on the bed and closed her eyes struggling to remember the past but she was distracted by the the message that said

"You better hurry back home, there are guest that am sure you will be so happy to meet them!! + they've turned your house into a.. what do I say a hyena's territory. "
Phlpz!!

She got out of bed and headed to her grandpa's room only to find him sound asleep like a baby.

Seeing her grandpa, that peaceful at times it made her feel relaxed. She slowly walked in took his clothes and other stuff and begun packing.
About two hours later she had packed both her bags and his. Then she went in the kitchen to prepare for lunch.

Moira stood before Eric's office, thinking of whether to get in or not, then she heard her brother's voice from the inside,"Just come in"

She opened the door to find him reading a book on how to cook.

"What's with the book though? Are you trying to change professionals and become a chef? "

"Shut up and sit down. "
She went to have her seat and looked at her brother who was still smiling.

"You are in a happy mood brother! Sister in law did you good I suppose? "

"What's with you, like what is it that actually made you come by? "

"I want Alex in the family reunion,he is missing so much! Like seeing his nephews and nieces how they've grown."

"Make a phone call, why me? "

"I.. well.. I just see he understands and listens to you a lot."

"This is Alex we are talking about he understands everybody but listens to no one unless he wants to. "

"Fine, I will try speaking to him. "

After the chit chat between siblings they went to have lunch together there after went to their separate ways.

The day ended really fast and Emelia made sure everything is intact, she was working together with Philips and she had refused to get intimate with him, so they just kept the friends thing on. At least they survived.

Jessica and Hilary were Kara's and Philips cousins,they had arrived weeks ago but they were just enjoying life in hotels.

Jessica happened to have a fling with someone, and she does not think she will let go anytime soon.
She has her eyes set on him and him only. That's Jessica a very persistent person.

In the evening Kara sat down with her grandpa watching the sun set.

"It's beautiful right? "

"Yes it is Kara, I always wanted your wedding celebrated on a sun set. "

"That's a bummer then, none have been celebrated there."

"Cause I never approved of them."

"Look at you, talking all mighty as if you are some King!! Hahahaha! "

"So your birthday, tomorrow right? "

"Yes, but I gotta admit, am no longer excited about it like before. "

"Hey.. I want you to be happy, like really happy tomorrow and all the following days, I know there going to be ups and downs but I at the end I want you to be happy, that's my wish to you. Early birthday wishes.. Happy Birthday to you little one. "

"Ohh Grandpa where would I be without you. "

"Hell of course!"(both laughed)

She hugged him so tight, feeling so loved.

That night she dreamt again,

She was walking out of her room,when she saw someone standing at the stairs, she thought that she was dreaming but no,it was not a dream, and just like that she saw a man holding a baby, her baby what happened next made her froze,as she was making a step closer to the person holding her baby, within a second the baby was pushed down the stairs, that's when she screamed so loud then went unconscious.

She screamed again and woke up from the dream.. finding her parents and brother already in her room, shock written on their face..

"I.... I... I.. I. Will never get past that right?"

"Moira.. It will be OK."her mother said

"OK?... It will never be, the bastard killed my baby girl...in my house.. And when I find him, he is going to pay....Oscar Johns will come begging on my feet,he destroyed so many lives and I will destroy his."
