Brielle's P.O.V.
I smiled and looked up at my dad, who was waiting for me.
"Ready?" he asked.
"For what?" I answered.
"Celebratory dinner!" he cheered.
I laughed. "Yeah, let's go."
In ten minutes flat, we were in a restaurant of my choice- Applebee's. We were sitting at our table, after just having ordered. My dad was laughing at a joke I just said before he paused.
"What happened in court today?" he asked.
"What?" I asked, confused.
"What was going on with you and Niall?" he asked a little smirk on his face.
I felt my face grow hot. Seriously, I've known my father for a week and he's already bombarding me with questions about boys.
"Nothing," I said.
My dad shook his head. "No, there was something going on. The way you two were looking at each other," he shook his head.
"How were we looking at each other?" I asked, almost desperately.
"Niall was looking at you as if he needed you to believe him or he'd burst into flames," my dad said. "And you were staring at him like he was the solution to all of your problems."
I blushed a little more. "Dad, he's the cause of most of my problems." I waited for him to answer then realized he was staring at me. "What?" I asked, looking down at myself, wondering if I had food on my face.
"You just called me Dad," he whispered.
Ohhhhh, right, I thought. He thought I hated him because he left.
"Well, you are my father, right?" I teased.
Dad smiled. "Yup, that's me."
We chatted over dinner then he had to go. Where, he didn't say. He just gave me a hug and walked out of the restaurant, congratulating me one more time on my victory and waved as he left. It's not like I minded; I actually wanted some alone time.
I got up and left the restaurant, tipping the waitress. Having worked as one a couple times, I knew how important tips were. As I walked outside, I realized that it was raining.
"Great," I muttered, shoving my hands in my pockets and walking across the parking lot, head down.
I peered in front of me, scanning for cars. I saw an opening and darted across the street, managing to get under a shop awning. I paused for a second, shaking the water out of my hair. I decided to wait there for a while, to see if the rain would let up a little.
After about ten minutes, there was no chance of the rain stopping. I sighed and stepped out into the rain, hoping to get to Addie's soon. I walked along the edge of the street, trying to avoid getting splashed by cars. After a couple of minutes, I was soaked to the bone.
"Some great victory party," I said aloud, laughing.
I noticed someone on the other side of the road; walking in the same direction I was only they were weaving back and forth. Probably drunk. I snorted as they almost tripped. I found myself slowing down to watch them.
They managed to get pretty far, considering how much they were weaving all over the place. Suddenly, they stepped in the street and under a streetlight, and I realized that I knew who it was.
It was Niall and he was drunk. And I mean drunk. Like giggly, weaving, falling, pissed drunk. A car was coming toward him and all he did was keep walking, well, staggering, really. I realized that he wasn't going to move and that the car either wasn't going to stop or the driver didn't see him.
