Chapter 9: Kiss the girl

Chapter 9:

"Wake up, _______!!!!" Yuffie shouted as she jumped on the water mattress you were sleeping on. With a wsh-ing noise, the mattress popped and water spouted all over you.

"Ugh, no offense, Yuff, but I don't really like starting the day with a bath," you groaned.

"Don't worry, ____, you're gonna be swimming soon anyway so being wet now isn't that bad," Kairi assured you.

Kairi had a point. Namine was already wearing a light pink tankini, Olette sported a modest orange bikini with matching hawaiian board shorts, Xion had on a black monokini, Rikku was wearing a neon yellow bikini, and Yuna was wearing a light blue bikini.

"Guess I should get changed then," you said with a smile.

"Same here," Kairi agreed.

"And me!" Yuffie added.

The three of you took turns getting dressed. You pulled on an island-print bikini and matching bottoms and met the other girls outside, where everyone else had arrived. Kairi already had on her red bandeau bikini and Yuffie wore a purple two-piece with a floral design. Since everyone else seemed to be chatting it up, you decided to talk to Riku, who you hadn't spoken to since the party at Seventh Heaven.

"Hi, Riku!" you said with a smile.

"Oh, hey, ____! What's up?" He said.

"Nothin' much. Does Kairi always throw pool parties like this?" you asked him. "Their kinda cool and I love swimming!"

"Haha, yeah, she does. Trust me, I'd know. Before Sora and her started dating, I was her boyfriend," he admitted.

"Really?!" you said, your eyes growing wide. "I had no idea."

Riku nodded. "Yeah, but it's cool. I loved her but I think it was time for both of us to move on so I'm okay with it. "He gave you a reassuring smile. "Hey, wanna race?"

"Sure! Just don't cry when I beat you," you said, giving him a smirk.

"Deal," Riku laughed, lowering himself into the water and waiting for you to join him. "On your mark. Get set. Go!"

The two of you took off and you knew you would win right away. Swimming was your game, and you were really good at it. You beat Riku by a long shot.

"No way!" Riku said, looking incredulous. "I thought for sure I'd win."

"I may be a total clutz on land, but when it comes to water, I know my stuff," you replied smugly.

Riku stuck out his hand. "And I couldn't help but notice you look good back there. Good game!" he said.

You blushed a bit. "Thanks." You said shyly.
