Chapter 14: Back to school

Chapter 14:

You woke up with a yawn and sat up in bed, stretching your arms and squinting as the sun's rays burst through the windows. You glanced at your alarm clock and did a double take. Shoot! You slept way too late! Training was about to start! You tossed your sheets aside and quickly got dressed, flinging your hair into an unkempt bun. You dashed toward the arena and found...

No one.

"Huh?" you said, wondering why Cloud wasn't there.

You walked out into the hall and found Reno munching on a sandwich. "What're you doing in your training clothes, yo?" he asked you.

"Isn't this the normal time for me to be training?" you questioned him.

Reno shook his head and grinned. "Didn't Tifa tell you? Cloud's running errands. He's gonna go with you to enroll in Destiny Islands High School in an hour."

You tilted your head to the side. "High school? But I thought..."

"Don't ask me. I was thinking the same thing. Tifa or Leon could probably explain." Reno said, taking a bite of his sandwich.

You nodded and walked over to Tifa's room. As you lifted your fist to knock on the door, you heard Reno yell jokingly: "I could bust that door open for ya if you want!"

"Shut up, Reno!" you responded as Tifa opened the door.

"I heard that!" she shouted as Reno skittered away chuckling.

"Tifa, Reno said I'm starting school again. Are you serious?" you asked.

Tifa sighed. "Come sit." You sat on the edge of her bed.

"Cloud and I talked it over and we thought it would be a good idea for you to start school. It would keep you further away from danger and you could finish your last year of high school." She explained.

"But Tifa, I've had a private teacher my whole life. Plus, I've already finished junior year. Why do I have to spend one last year of school in a normal high school?" you protested.

"Just think of it as an adventure, ______," Tifa said. "Plus, everyone you know will be there!"

"Everyone?" you groaned. "Even Rinoa?"

Tifa bit her lip. "Unfortunately, yeah. She's a senior too. Cloud and I graduated a year ago and Leon just finished his senior year so we won't be going to the same school. But everyone else will, so there's nothing to worry about."

Leon wouldn't be there? That made it so much harder to agree to going to school. You looked at Tifa and sighed. "Okay, I'll go."

Tifa gave you a hug. "That's my girl. Now go get dressed in some normal clothes."
