Intro:

You sat on the edge of your bed, awaiting the imminent arrival of the group of

RANGER members. RANGER is an acronym for the Recent And New Group of Elected Recruits, a select few of debutants on their first mission. They were assigned to protect you from the propagation of enemies that you had managed to gain in only a matter of days, and help you remain in a state of subsistence.

You are the daughter of General Goodlocke, a man full of avarice and parsimony who happens to be very eminent in society. Recently, your father has been charged with the crime of stealing a great sum of money from Admiral Collins. The two have had a grudge against one another for as long as anyone can remember, so the accusation does not seem so...unbelievable. Your father is now in prison, and you have been left to fight off all of Admiral Collins' allies, family members, and lackeys. So, prudence being a quality you own, you have called the RANGERs for their assistance.

"RANGER Leon Hart," a voice called from behind the door. "About time!" you thought to yourself, flinging open the door. A tall brunette-who you assumed was about your age-stood in the doorway, his grey eyes indifferent and his lips fixed into a firm line. "You have no idea how long I've waited!" you squealed, jumping towards him and closing your arms around him in a hug. Giving you a censured frown, he said, "Whoa there! This is an esoteric meeting. You shouldn't be making such a scene." Leon immediately pushed you off of him. "I'm sorry. I'm just so glad that you all have finally come," you replied with a smile. Leon nodded; he looked away. "The others will be here soon."

As if on cue, you heard a knock and opened the door to find a black-haired girl with deep brown eyes, a young man with unnaturally red hair, and a blonde boy with a crew cut and a scar that appears identical to Leon's. "Hi!" you greeted cheerfully. "Pleasure", the blonde said in a way that tells you that your meeting was anything BUT pleasant. "Yo! You must be ____. I'm Reno. The blonde's name is Seifer, and this is Tifa," the redhead said pointing to the other two RANGERs. "Nice to meet you," Tifa added, shaking your hand with enthusiasm.

"We'll have to leave now," Leon interrupted, his tone making it obvious that he was a person who kept pragmatism at the top of his list. "Now?! But, why?" you questioned. "Orders from our boss. You're not safe here," he replied. "What's that noise?" Reno asked. All five of you remained quiet for a moment until you heard a soft beeping sound. Tifa's eyes widen. "It's..." she began. "Get out!" Leon shouted, somehow managing to preserve his diffident manner. Grabbing your arm, he yanked you out of the door, Reno, Tifa, and Seifer trailing behind him.

You turned around, watching the house you grew up in explode with an ear shattering noise. "So I guess that means we're leaving," you sighed, looking up at Leon. "I doubt you would want to live in a house that's currently engulfed in flames," he said nonchalantly. "Now get in," he ordered, carefully pushing you into a black car, allowing Tifa and Seifer to slide in after you while he and Reno entered the driver's and passenger's seats. Before your home was out of sight, you glanced out of the back window. You began to pine for the life you knew you wouldn't see again. "Where are we going?" you inquired. "RANGER headquarters," Seifer croaked. "That's where you'll learn the rudiments of what we're all about," Tifa said with a grin.

"Welcome to RANGER headquarters!" Reno announced with an air of false gentility as you arrived. Leon opened the back door and you stepped out into the open air and stared in awe at a prodigious building. "Good thing you feel comfortable already, because you're going in alone," Seifer said much to your chagrin. "Will you come with me then?" you begged Leon. He looked away, ignoring you. "I'll take that as a yes," you laughed, taking him by the hand and dragging him along with you. An exacerbated look was frozen on his face.

"Somebody's cranky," you said with candor. Leon rolled his eyes before you turned around to face him. "Why don't you talk," you asked him. "No point in getting close to people. Either you lose them or they abandon you," he answered. "Such a pessimist!" you exclaimed, shaking your head. "Well, let's just get going," he said, changing the subject and walking towards the building. "You'll see," you thought to yourself, lingering behind. "Not all people are like that. I will change your mind." Then, you followed him into the building, where you knew your adventure would begin.
