Chapter 18: With the Band

Chapter 18:

You searched for the 'off'' button on your alarm clock as it went off. You stretched and let out a yawn, the memories of last night coming back to you. Cloud had scolded you as you came back soaking wet and had a talk with Leon about bringing you home at midnight in such a state. When it came to you dating, Cloud was very serious, even though you had been with his best friend. You smiled to yourself and got ready for school, straightening your tie and pulling on your skirt as you walked downstairs to grab, by the smell of it, Tifa's famous blueberry pancakes for breakfast.

"Good morning, _______!" Tifa greeted you as she slid a couple of pancakes onto a plate and handed it over to you.

"Morning, Tifa! Thanks for breakfast!" you replied as you grabbed the bottle of syrup and sat down next to Reno.

"Cloud and Leon are still asleep. Guess they were talking for awhile last night," Tifa said as she turned off the stove. "I'm going outside to water the plants, ok?" You nodded, a mouthful of pancakes preventing you from reponding.

As soon as she left, Reno spoke. "So have you decided?" he inquired calmly.

You looked at him, recalling the conversation you two had before. "I don't know..." you said honestly, unsure of how to answer.

Reno merely nodded and changed the subject. "Did you finish Saix's math homework?"

"Crap!" you shouted. You had completely forgotten about that!

Reno laughed. "Don't worry. I'll help you finish it if you have the paper."

"Thanks, Reno!" you beamed as you took the homework out of your bag. After struggling with a few problems you finally got the hang of the worksheet and before you knew it you were done!

"We better get going," Reno told you as he helped you to finish up. You nodded and followed after him toward the door, where Axel, Kairi, and Zack were waiting for you outside.

"Hey, babe!" Axel called out, slipping his arm through yours as you started walking.

"Hi, Axel," you responded, giving him a small smile.

"Such a player," Reno sighed. Axel shot him a glare and Kairi rolled her eyes, stealing you from Axel.

"Thanks," you said to Kairi.

"No biggie," she grinned. "So...Yuffie told me you went on a date with Leon."

You made a zipping motion across your mouth. Yuffie couldn't keep her mouth shut to save her life. "We just went to the movies..." you explained.

"Well, how'd it go?" she asked.

You smiled a bit. "It was really...nice, actually," you answered.

Kairi asked you for details and you gave her a quick summary on what had happened. Once you had all arrived at school, Kairi and Zack took off toward Xaldin's room for history and Axel and Reno stood on each side of you, walking you to math class. You sat down at your seat, attempting to listen to Saix's dull lecture but eventually gave up and began doodling unicorns and chibi versions of the people in your class.
