"Why did I do what?" Hannah spoke with seriousness in her face, making Chad wonder if she was serious or if she was a really good actress.
Chad's eyes bored into the book after that leaving Hannah with many questions.
"Well, I don't know about you but I can't read minds." The girl who's hair fell down her shoulders spoke with her voice trembling.
"You posted a tweet, it left people thinking that we -" chad picked himself up. "That we did what we shouldn't do."
"I never did anything like that." Hannah said, tears now picking her eyes.
"Bullshit, Hannah! I saw it on Justin's phone and other people's phone. Okay?" Chad said, his voice a little too louder then it should, leaving Clay wondering what was going on in this table.
Chad closed his book, putting it back inside his back before standing up.
"I think its best - if we stay away from each other." Chad said, those words hurting his inside more then Hannah could ever imagine. Would ever imagine.
"Chad - please -" Hannah tried to get Chad's attention, causing irritation in Chad's mind.
'Why the fuck is she playing the victim now?'
"Leave me alone! Slut." Chad said not making eye contact with Hannah, scared of what he would see. Not believing the words that came out of his mouth. "Sor- Sorry." Chad said full of regret before walking out of the library into the heating sun.
Hannah sat back down on her chair and covered her head as her tears fell down freely.
"I was so stupid." Chad said as Tony looked at the boy with pity. "If I knew what those words would cost. I would never have let them out."
"You could've never knew, also you were influenced by other people." Tony said and this time Chad made eye contact again with Tony, noticing his biggest details in his eyes.
Perfect.
He broke the eye contact as he looked back down in shame.
"Influenced? What do you mean? I was not influenced, the tweet actually happened."
"Did it? Because her profile doesn't have anything about you or what you did in the sheets." Tony said showing Chad his phone.
"Nothing happened in the sheets." Chad said, getting up frustrated. "I'm not like that."
"I know - Hey -" Tony said but before he could let out another word, Chad was already walking towards his car, leaving the tanned boy alone and confused with a hint of regret.
Once inside the car, Chad listened to the rest of his tape once and for all, it was exactly the story he thought, Hannah said how she didn't do anything but she didn't blame him.
Chad felt sad that she didn't hold anything against him but yet he did. She died and he had a bad impression of her in mind.
Chad felt a vibration coming from his phone. Chad reached for his pocket, taking out his phone and looking at the contact calling. Justin.
Chad answered the call immediately to be greeted by the voice of his best friend.
"Hey, Beaumont" Justin spoke from the other side of the line.
"Hey - Justin." Chad said trying to put on a mask that he was okay, but then again you can't really put masks on voices.
"You okay?" Justin asked, and that question almost brought Chad to his knees (not literally). Yet, Chad felt something warm inside, he felt happy that through everything he still had his best friend, his best friend still cared.
"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" Chad answered, letting out another question along.
"I don't know - cuz you're listening to the tapes and it's kind of a hard process. The bitch is good at lying." Justin said letting out a laugh, Chad let out a laugh as well.
'Was she lying' was the question Chad had questioned himself about.
"Anyways - wanna come hang at Bryce's?" Justin said and he nodded, not noticing that Justin couldn't see his face. "Yes. Sure, I'll be there in a few." Chad said before hanging up and turning his car on, starting to drive carefully towards Bryce's house.
