Chad had finally finished all of the tapes in that same night, he didn't feel like passing it on to the next person but he had to due to the message from Hannah. The next day Chad spend a few minutes placing the tapes back in the box and taking it to the next person's house; Sheri.
The last tapes were the worse for Chad, the story was horrible and especially since it included Bryce, a person who Chad always admired for being so calm and nice to him, sure he did have his horrible joke moments but it was just banter right?
But Chad thought it was all a big lie from a girl who wanted to keep her life going and destroy the people who driven her to commit suicide, however in the back of his mind he thought that maybe she wasn't lying.
Why would a dead girl lie? She wasn't going to live to see the impact she made. Was it all for full spite?
Chad kept thinking the same things over and over until he reached the schools front doors, he walked a big road but he liked walking anyways since he found it rather relaxing.
Chad went straight to his locker, glad that he didn't see Justin or his other friends.
Chad looked once again at his schedule for the day and let out a sigh as his eyes stopped in each one.
Fuck my life.
Chad whispered for the 100th time this week.
*
Chad sat on his seat waiting for the rest of the classroom to get in and for the lesson to start to just get today over with.
Chad pretended to be writing when actually he was just scribbling the paper over and over again, if someone saw that paper they would surely think he was a lunatic.
Then again, he thought maybe he was.
"Hey." Chad looked up to see Justin with a smile looking down at him.
"Hi." Chad mumbled loud enough for the individual to hear.
"Okay, class sit down." The teacher said loud and clear making Justin walk to his seat, Chad and Justin still making eye contact from time to time. Definitely awkward.
The teacher started the lesson but was quickly interrupted by a knock on the door.
The teacher opened the door to reveal the principle who welcomed everyone with a bright smile and slowly walked in looking at everyone's work making sure they were doing their job.
"Is everyone alright?" The principle asked getting a few yes' as a response. "Doing what you are supposed to?" The principle asked again, this time looking at the teacher who smiled a yes at him.
"Well, I'm here to get -" The principle looked at the paper in his big hands. "Chad Beaumont." The principle said looking for Chad through the crowd.
"Here." I say raising my hand and preparing to walk out.
"There you are! Please follow me, Mr. Beaumont." The principle said after walking out the door not before slashing a smile at the teacher who later continued the lesson.
Chad followed the principle through the empty and color-less corridors. Wondering why the principle has asked him to come to his office since that had never happened before.
Could he be in trouble?
They finally reached the principle's office after a few awkward silences. "Here, take a seat." the principle said pushing a chair for Chad to be in front of the desk to start a conversation with the student, which looked really comfortable.
Chad quickly sat down, placing his back in the floor next to his feet. Looking around at the not so interesting office.
"So - Chad Beaumont. Extremely good at maths, not so good in English and - average at all the rest." The principle said flashing a smile at the boy who looked extremely uncomfortable.
"Thank you." Chad said nodding.
"Did I sum up your school experience?" The principle said giggling at the response.
"You just - summed up my life, basically." Chad said with a smile. "Especially in the last words." He added as the older man looked at the paper in his desk.
"So, Chad I bet you want to know why you're here." The principle said.
"Well - yeah." Chad added.
"I have got a report from your teachers, more then one, that you lately have got worst results in exams, payed less attention in class and also participated less in class. I just want to do a check in on you and why this is going on." The man said making Chad want to sigh.
"Yeah - I have been struggling lately." Chad said looking down at his hands.
"Is it something the counsellor can help you with? Family problem?" The principle asked while the boy shook his head.
"No - I just - have been struggling with the subjects lately that's all." Chad said with a forceful smile, not wanting to talk about the tapes.
"Well, I was just wondering since - you know, the whole Hannah Baker issue and all, we don't want to have another one of those problems." The principle asked giggling, which Chad didn't find anything funny at all.
"Well if that's the case, I have a thing that will surely help you." The principle said, getting the student's attention.
"and What's that?" Chad asked.
"Well - you will get a few extra lesson in the library with a student from the older year. This student has great curriculum, he is kind and I think you would get along with him. And you will also get a few more study in for the exams coming up." The older man said looking more excited then Chad himself.
"Okay - and who is the amazing person?" Chad asked sarcastically. Chad had got a bit of an attitude lately due to the pressure and the tapes. He felt as if he shouldn't take shit from anybody anymore.
"Tony Padilla." The older man said, the student instantly remembering the name from the tanned built boy who always somehow came to the rescue.
You've got to be kidding me.
"You will start tomorrow, You can go back to class now." The principle said.
