"I've always dreamt of having some sort of undercover job. I think it's probably the coolest thing in the world, but ultimately a very lonely life."
Rashida Jones

"Everything will be okay." The words rattled around her head as the Chicago FBI building came into view. Maria couldn't do this- she didn't want to start over as some thug. She wanted to live in a nice apartment and a nice job. She wanted to stay in her apartment and at her job with the BAU. This wasn't her.

All Maria had with her was a small cardboard box with two outfits and her copy of The Parliament of Fowls by Geoffrey Chaucer, one of the books Spencer had recommended and bought her when they went on their book store 'date'. She pulled into the first parking spot she saw and pulled out her phone.

"Penelope Garcia FBI's technical ana-" she began but Maria cut her off.
"Pen I cannot do this. I am not just saying it because I don't want to be here, I literally can't do this job. I went undercover once and I got beaten up! And it went horribly! Why would I want this fucking job! Couldn't I do anything else- I'd rather be a desk jockey than being here!" Maria rambled at her friend, her breathing began to increase and her vision blurred.
"Ria, calm down hun. Breathe in and out, you're okay. I promise you that you can do this! I've looked into the team and they are all amazing based on what I've found. They are going to teach you everything, they know what they are doing. You absolutely can do this! I know you, you are so super strong of course you can do it!" Garcia's bubbly voice replied.
"Okay, okay. Yeah you're right. I'm sorry. Everything is so alien here Pen- so new, I wanna be there at home!" She complained, Garcia responded in typical fashion offering Maria girls nights whenever she needed them. She even offered to travel to Chicago to have girls night.
"Thank you Pen, you're a gem, love you! I'll see you soon!"

After hanging up the call Maria made her way into the FBI building, she had the same nerves as her first day at the BAU but this time there was no excitement, it was simply pure dread. She wandered up the steps towards the reception area, she went through the procedure of getting her ID picture taken. Next it was time for her to meet her new team, she struggled to find her boss when she did he didn't show her any signs of friendliness he told her to follow him down to meet the rest of the team.

There were six people on the team:
Her boss Richard Harold, he was in his late fifties and his dark brown hair was peppered with grey, his dark brown eyes were surrounded by bags that showed he hadn't slept in weeks, maybe months.
There was Special Agent Lucy Mariano, she was probably in her mid thirties her raven hair was tied back in a sleek low pony tail. She had light blue eyes and heavy eye makeup on. She had an almost Spanish look about her, she gave Maria a cold glare.
Special agent Jake Ennis he was the only member who seemed remotely friendly, his grey eyes and blonde hair, he had very defined features which stood out to Maria.
There were three other agents who were out on a case, their names were; Fern Beale, Opal Sittman and Dallas Dewitz. Jake briefly filled her in on them, they are the top three in the branch and they sure as hell knew it.

Jake was ordered to tell Maria what she was going to be working on. In Chicago there are two main conflicts ; the Vagos gang and the mob. Each of the two parties have smaller gangs which generally infiltrate the territories of the opposition. They monitor the enemy and steal drugs and weapons shipments sometimes it gets messy and people end up dead. Maria's job is to go under cover and infiltrate the Vagos gang and gather enough evidence to shut down both of the gangs.

"So Maria, you are going under cover as a Naomi Diaz. You will be living in the crappy run down apartment block where the mob tend to be, you will somehow get the Vagos gang to see the mob with you- make of that what you will. Then you have to get in with the Vagos gang, gather evidence and then we will get you out. You will have no contact with anyone. You will have check ups with me every six weeks. Do you have any questions?" He informed her, she nodded along with it all. "No questions from me. When do I start?"
"Mariano will take you shopping. You look to official. You need to look like you belong."

"Okay I can do that."

"Good as soon as you've got your stuff sorted you can get to work, Naomi."

Maria nodded, she liked that her gang name would be Naomi. Like a tribute to her baby sister.

'I can do this.' Was the only thought occupying her mind.
