"I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in the darkness the astonishing light of your own being."
Hafiz

Hotch remained in his seat opposite Maria,
"Now I can imagine that you remember everything about that night, but I would like to do a cognitive-" Maria nodded,
"To make sure that I haven't locked any key information in the back of my brain?" she asked and Hotch nodded, "okay, I'm ready- whenever you are." Hotch nodded and began to describe her apartment to her.

"So you were in your bedroom, you were alone in silence- the only light in the apartment was the light flooding in through the window and it was raining outside, so you got in bed and settled down to the sound of the rain," Maria nodded and closed her eyes, picturing her apartment that night, "then you heard the door handle turning and the floorboards creaking, your eyes began to adjust, your senses heightened by the adrenaline pumping through your veins. You could hear the intruder's feet gently padding on the carpet, you listened and you heard the footsteps- how many pairs could you hear?" He asked and he observed as she began recalling the information,
"I think there were four-" Hotch nodded making a note on his notepad.
"So then you looked to the doorway, and what did you see?" Once again there was a short pause,
"It looked like a crowd, but then everything blended together, but it was definitely a crowd- probably three, maybe four." Hotch scribbled it down.
"Next you grabbed your gun, how did it feel in your hand?" He asked, as the ammo was missing he wanted to see if she remembered it being unloaded.
"It felt cold, and lighter than normal." He nodded, so the ammo was probably taken before the attack.
"So you got your gun, it felt cold in your hand and it was lighter than normal, you crept to the doorway, your gun aimed in front of you- what happened next?" He asked, she took a deep breath.

"And then someone charged at me, and knocked me over- I think, I-I dropped my gun?" She said her voice laced with uncertainty, "and then everything was black, I couldn't see- I think I was still conscious because I remember thinking to myself 'open your eyes, get up' but I couldn't open them. I was kicked, repeatedly- I knew there was more than one person at that point because I could feel the boots hitting me at both sides of my torso, and the someone grabbed my head a-and-" She paused and took a breath, "They punched me in the face and then slammed m-my h-head i-into the f-f-floor-" Her voice shook and her heart rate increased, but she continued to recount the events, "and then I couldn't breathe, blood was in my throat and I began to cough- I could've choked to death on my own blood, but I didn't and then I stopped fighting to stay conscious. And then when I woke up I was here." Hotch scribbled down everything Maria had just told him he told her to keep her eyes closed, he placed his unloaded glock in her hands,
"Is this what your gun felt like?" Maria nodded and opened her eyes,
"Wait, it was unloaded? O-oh my g-god!" She covered her face with her hand, a few moments after Hotch had finished asking her questions a nurse came and gave her some morphine,
"I'm sorry Hotch but this stuff knocks me out like a light, so if you have any other questions it might be better to wait until tomorrow, it that would be okay?" He nodded and stood up.
"You did really well with that interview Maria, I'll see you tomorrow get some rest." She gave him a quick smile and closed her eyes.

Maria opened her eyes and looked around, she's home. In Virginia, she jumped up out of bed and scurried to the bathroom she looked in the mirror and her bruises and bandages had gone. Her face was normal, and she was home. She threw an old hoodie on and made herself some coffee, just as she was about to sit down there was a knock on the door. She opened the door and grinned upon seeing Spence stood, he had a dvd in his hand- she let him in and began making him a cup of coffee while she added the sugars he crept up behind her and snaked his arms around her waist, she turned to face him.

"I missed you Ria." She smiled at him and he meant down placing a quick peck on her lips, she threw her arms around his neck and pulled him closer, he put a hand on her cheek and one on the small of her back- their lips crashed together in a frenzy. Once the two had finished making out they settled on the sofa,
"Hey, I brought this movie- it's hilarious! Shall we watch it?" She nodded eagerly while taking a sip of coffee, Spencer turned the tv on and set the dvd up- Maria hit ply and Spencer sat back down next to her.
