Ch. 9
My dream was so realistic, just like all the rest. At first I saw my brother, Nico, with that Poseidon kid, Percy. They were talking at a table with food right in front of them.
"Nico, we can't be doing this." Percy fidgeted in his seat a bit. His body tone was giving away his nervousness. He was messing around with his food but not eating it. He occasionally looked up at my brother with a bit of red in his face. Nico avoided the sea green eyes by looking at his drink. "You know we can get in trouble when and if we get caught." Nico rolled his eyes at his worry. "And your father-"
"Hades knows I leave to get food." Nico interrupts and finally takes a sip of his drink. Percy glares at Nico for a bit and then sighs. He knew he had lost the fight. Percy didn’t push the argument anymore.
"Scoot over." Nico obeyed, with a bit of embarrassment. He looked around as Percy got up to sit next to Nico. "You know…” Percy began to talk. “Annabeth would kill us if she found out about this." Percy seemed worried but he gave off an awkward chuckle. He was trying his best to not make the conversation awkward.
Nico leaned his head against Percy's shoulder. "I'm already dead." Nico replies softly but with a small smile on his face.
My dream shifted into another. I was drowning. It felt like my lungs would explode at any minute from all the water. My vision became extremely blurry. I saw nothing, but little by little I saw a figure. A very blurry figure but I knew it was there.
"Help me." An unfamiliar voice spoke. It was a bit faint that I wouldn’t have heard it if it didn’t repeat what they had said. "Please... Help me… You don't have much time."
My vision became blurry by the second, until I couldn’t see anymore. My mind became blank.
I woke up as soon as I stopped breathing. I coughed up some water, which wasn’t normal, I hoped.
I heard Nico's voice by my bed on the right side. “Sister! Sis! Are you ok?!" He was shaking me now and he helped me sit up. He patted my back while I coughed.
"What happened?" I shrug and spit up a bit more water.
"I need to call an Apollo child!" He was about to run out when I grabbed his hand to stop him.
"A dream…" I managed to cough out. "I had a dream."
He stopped and turned. He gave me a worried face. Luckily the cabin was dimly lit so I could see his facial expression and he could see mine. Which I didn’t know was good or not. But I didn’t care. "About what?" He walked toward my bed and sat on the corner of my bed. "Tell me everything that happened."
I hesitated a bit but I began to tell him only about me drowning. I didn't want to say I had eavesdropped on him and Percy twice.
"Someone was calling for help?” Nico was confused once I had finished telling him. “Water? Why were you asked?” His tone became a bit rough and harsh. “You almost died!" He was angry now, but not at me. I could tell he was mad at something else. "I need to go." He was about to stomp out until I stopped him.
"My McDonald's?" I remembered and asked softly. He stops and turns a bit so I can see his smile. He points to end table with a bag that had the letter 'M' on it.
"Enjoy. Their fries are quite addictive." He walked out of the cabin once he finished his opinion.
I stare at the door as it closed slowly. He was so secretive about his life that it made me want to know more about him. I wanted to make him feel comfortable with me to talk about his predicament with Percy. I couldn't handle keeping my secret about what I saw. It was too much pressure on me. I may not remember who I was, but I knew that I was probably bad at keeping secrets. I also knew that I was a very curious person. I turned and saw the bag. ‘Example A,’ I thought to myself as I reach for the bag. I was extremely curious on how good the food was. Nico did say they were addictive. I got out a fry for a test taste. "Mm... These things are good!" I grabbed a handful and ate them. I continued to grab handfuls until there were no more.
