Ch. 10

We walked up to the Big House to talk to Chiron. More campers were out and about to their daily lives. I was surprised that there were so many campers. I noticed a few wore purple shirts rather than the orange shirts. I found that a bit weird but I didn’t question it. Alex would limp every other step, which would freak out a few Apollo kids that were nearby. They feared he would trip any time soon and he wouldn’t be able to get up. I kinda had the same worries too. I wouldn’t know what to do if he did fall. Would I have to help him up? Or wait for someone to come and pick him up? Someone interrupted my thoughts right away.

"Yo, losers!" I heard that unforgettable and recognizable voice. Alex groaned, and I instantly knew it wasn't because of his foot. I turned to the owner of the voice and saw Daisy. Her hair was styled the same, a braid going down her shoulder. She wore the similar clothes from yesterday. Only difference was she wore torn pants and a faded orange camp T-shirt.

"Daisy!" I wave at her with complete happiness. My mouth formed a big smile, a little too big. She stopped walking towards us and gave me a disgusted face.

"Dude, no. Don't do that face." She covered her eyes playfully and laughed. She continued to walk again, lowering her hand. "You guys heading to the Big House?" She nodded to building up ahead. We were only a hundred feet from the porch, so it was obvious where we were going.

"Yeah. We need to ask Chiron for a quest." I tell her. Alex groaned again. This time it was because he disapproved my decision of telling her.

"Don't tell her that." Alex mumbles like it hurt him to speak.

"Why not?" Daisy glared at him and he yelped a bit in pain. Not physical pain, but emotional pain. It was like Daisy’s glares contained a small yet deadly sting.

"Last time I checked, it was my siblings and I that helped you." She growled at him in anger. She was starting to get angry, but I couldn’t tell if it was real or fake.

"Hey, tell Jeremy I say thanks.” He smiled for a quick second. “But don't think I'm going to say that to you.” His smile faded instantly. “As I recalled you punched my shoulder." Alex glared right back at her and rubbed his shoulder as if he was recalling the pain. Daisy rolled her eyes like she really didn’t care. I had a feeling she really didn’t care either.

"You're a boy. Not a sissy." Daisy whistled a soft tune after she finished her sentence. I smiled awkwardly at their tension.

"So... To the Big House we continue to go?" I tried to relax the mood by smiling a bit more. Daisy seemed to get the hint and she chuckled.

"An adventure? Sure! I love my pancakes with a side of Chiron." Daisy winks at me playfully and she hooked her arm around mines. “Off to see Chiron! The wonderful Chiron of Camp.” She laughed and I laughed along with her. But I had no clue what she meant by that. It was obviously something I would never understand. We started to walk into the Big House.

My focus was on Alex, who showed fear of the place. He made it seem like he was going to be eaten whole by the building. He actually never struck me as someone who would have a fear. Daisy on the other hand seemed to be relaxed and proud to be in the Big House. She was smiling too; I couldn’t help but admire her smile. It was so bright like the sun. I guess that’s a perk of being a child of Apollo.

"Yo Chiron!" Daisy knocked on a door. She must have really known this place by heart. After a while, we heard the clattering of hooves against a wooden floor. Daisy looks at her nails for a bit until Chiron opened the door.
