Lexa's POV

"Hey, Lexa.." Murphy poked me in the side, two other guys leaning over by his side to listen. I turned around, annoyed since Clarke was in the middle of talking to me.

"What?" I growled, causing him to flinch away.

"We're-uh, gonna go before the teacher gets here.."

"Go ahead without me"

"Why-"

"Just. Go." His eyes wandered behind me to Clarke, rolling his eyes he stood up leaving along with the other two who glanced over their shoulder glaring at Clarke.

"Why aren't you going with them?" I turned over to Clarke, an anxious painful feeling shot up immediately.

"Do you want me to leave?" I fumbled with the strap of my bag, sliding off the seat ready to leave before she quickly clutched my strap pulling me back. Her warm smile instantly melting away that anxious feeling.

"No, it's fine, it's just out of character for you to stay for class"

"I mean- you were in the middle of talking. That'd be rude" I shrugged, smiling slightly seeing her raise her eyebrows with a smirk.

"Oh, that'd be rude?"

"Yeah"

"Alright, sure, that's totally why your staying" she smirked, leaning back into her chair.

"It is" I replied defensively, crossing my arms.

"Okay, whatever you say, commander" we smiled, a silent staring contest held between the both of us, giving me an excuse to stare and examine those eyes of hers. They gave off a turquoise glow under the cheap school lighting, my eyes were forced to look away towards the doorway in which, Mr. Kane walked in.

"Hello, class" his eyes locked onto mine, confused at first but then wandered over to Clarke, a smug smirk making its way to his face. "Lexa, glad to see you in class for once. You have some catching up to do." I huffed in annoyance, he thinks he knows everything about me. But, I'll tolerate it for now.

The anger faded away as Clarke smiled slightly at me, leaning in to whisper, "Maybe we can study together after school?", my cheeks heated up as certain thoughts that were definitely not studying filled my mind. I swallowed my gayness, smiling slightly trying not to seem so excited.

"Sure"

--

"Wait- where did you get the two from?" I asked confused, my eyebrows scrunching up together, looking between the jumble of numbers and words and Clarke's patient smile as she went over it again.

"Maybe we should take a break and get some snacks"

"Finally" I put my pencil down, my hand felt tight and cramped and my head hurt, how can Clarke even comprehend any of this? We walked down her creaky wooden stairs, I liked her house even though she complained about it, it's a decent sized and gives a warm feeling. Or maybe that's just because Clarke is standing really close to me.

"Oreos?" Clarke asked, pulling out a box of Oreos, one Oreo already in her mouth.

"Ew, no" I gagged, sitting on her counter.

"What?! I know you're cold-hearted and all but- this is too much" she scolded me, I smiled rolling my eyes.

"I mean,their okay.."

"Would you eat them with me?" She slowly asked, drawing out the 'me'.

"Only with milk"

"Fine" she took out two glasses of milk, sitting on the counter with me as we ate our Oreos, occasionally dipping them into the cold milk. In between eating, the front door suddenly opened, as a reflex I quickly slid down grabbing the nearest object. I pulled Clarke behind me, the knife pointed at the door.

"Hey, mom, what're you doing here?"

"I love you too? And who is this?" Clarke's mom raised an eyebrow, I hesitantly set down the knife, freeing my bolted grasp on Clarke's arm whilst mumbling a "Sorry".

"This is Lexa, my friend"

Clarke's POV

"Okay..  hello, Lexa" I chuckled, seeing Lexa's posture straighten her hand stiffly shaking my moms'.

"We'll be upstairs studying" I grabbed Lexa's hand, feeling her relax at the touch of my hand, her hands were soft to touch and fit perfectly with mine. Her slender fingers filling the spaces between my fingers, but the feeling was erased as we sat down at the desk, sitting besides each other. I slowly inched my chair closer to hers, smiling goofily as she raised an eyebrow at me.

"What?"

"Nothing, just-uh, teach me how to do this stupid problem.."  She leaned forwards, her eyes scanning the paper intently. She knows how to do the problem, she could do it, she's just playing dumb.

"Try it on your own"

"What?" Her eyes snapped up to mine.

"Try the problem on your own, I'll help you if you need it" without protesting, she grudgingly did the problem on her own, I slowly inched my knee until our legs were touching. At first, she flinched away, but then relaxed again along with a small crook of the lips that she refused to recall is a smile.

I didn't mean to, but, I couldn't help it. The way she bit at her bottom lip, her eyebrows scrunched together as she read the problem over again. I almost didn't even hear her until she gently shook me.

"I still don't get it, can you just help me?"

"Fine, but I'm not giving you the answer"

"Fair enough-" the ringing of her phone interrupted, with an apologetic look she answered it. Immediate words were flown, along with sirens and arguments in the background.
"What do you mean? Okay- calm down- I'll be there in a minute" She ended the call with an annoyed huff.

"Where're you going?" I asked curiously, helping the books back into her bag.

"Bellamy and Murphy made a scene with one of the other crews.." she muttered absentmindedly, the gears in her head already turning as she took her bag from my hands.
"Thanks for today, I'll see you later" She turned, muttering a 'bye' to my mother before going out the door; stuffing her hands into her pockets.

"Lexa- Wait!" I scrambled after her out the door, she slowed to a strolling walk, glancing over at me.
"Don't you have a social studies test this week?"

"I think so..? Why?" She raised an eyebrow, I fidgeted with the hem of my shirt.

"Maybe I can help you with the-uh- test and all" her eyes wandered off a bit before returning back to mine with a smirk.

"Sure" and with that she strolled off, leaving a jittery flutter-like feeling in me. I ran past my confused mom, up the stairs with a grin.
