Gwen's POV :
I woke up to my alarm clock screaming at me, per usual. I stretched, got out of bed, and got dressed. I slipped into some leggings, a black shirt that laced up over my breasts, and my usual black combat boots. I threw my hair into a messy bun, put on my make up, even doing my full eyeliner. This was no ordinary work day. I smiled at my reflection in the mirror, looking sufficiently bad ass.
I walked out the door and hopped into the car that was waiting for me.
"Hey!" I beamed at the man in the driver's seat.
"Well hey there, sunshine." Jake smiled back at me. "You're in an awfully good mood."
"It's not every day you get to quit a shit job, now, is it?" I nearly laughed at this. I wish I had a short sleeve shirt on. It was warm outside. But, I knew why I couldn't do that.
Jake laughed, and punched my work address into the car's built in GPS. We pulled out of my drieway. I wasn't even a little bit nervous. I loved technology, I really did. But fixing stupid peoples problems, uniforms, and following a shit ton of rules wasn't really my thing.
We pulled up on the side of the road, in front of the entrance of y work place. "Are you sure you don't want any help with anything?" Jake had offered to help clear out my desk and be there, just in case anything happened. But this was somethin I needed to do. (I also couldn't wait to stick it to everyone there).
"No. I'll be okay. Just keep the car running in case I need a get away car." I winked. I didn't even now Icould wink. Or why. Or where all of this sudden conidence came from. It's not like me to be confident or to take charge of things like this.
I marched right into the building. Jennifer was at the desk, per usual. "Well hello, Gwendolyn." She sneered in my direction.
"Hey bitch." I stared back at her, a sly smile creeping its way onto my face.
"Excuse me??" She stood, trying to level with me.
"I don't think I stuttered, Jen. Did I?" I walked past her and to my boss's office, ignoring her prostest at my comment. I had a job to do, and as much as I would love to embarass her, it would have to wait.
"Come in." I hear my boss say as I knocked on his door. He was the type of boss who would hold your shoulders if he ever stood behind you. The type who brushes your hair out of your face, grabs your ass when he thinks no one is looking. A real grade A creep.
"Mr. Slate. I have something to say to you."I straightened up, looking as stern as I could.
"Oh, Ms. Schett, please, do have a seat. I wouldn't want your pretty little self getting tired." He stood and approached me, standing inches away.
"I am perfectly fine standing, thank you very much." I took a step back. He only came closer.
"What is it, then. What do you have to tell me." He looked down on me. Not in the way Jake does, though. Yes, my boss is also taller than me. But, he was looking down in a condescending manner.
"I..." I didn't like how close he was. But, I needed to do this. "I quit."
"You can't be serious." His expression grew cold. "After all I've done for you. You're just going to leave this company??" He stepped closer.
I was growing nervous, now. "Yeahhh. That's all." I decided I would just run out before he got any closer.
He tried to follow me, but being short has it's advantages. I slipped out of there and away from him before he could do anything. By the time I got to my desk, I was laughing hysterically. I was really doing this!! I threw what little personal belonings I had on my desk into a box and headed down to the lobby. As I was walking out, Jennifer approached me.
"You have some kind of fucking nerve," she angrily whispered under her breath. "You think you can talk to me like that and get away with it?" She was holding a fresh cup of coffee in her hand. "Think again." Before I could react, she had thrown the coffee out of the cup and onto my shirt. Fuck! That hurt. I did the only thing I could think of. I elbowed her in the nose and ran for the door.
"Jennifer is a bitch!!" I screamed before exiting that hell hole for the last time.
I leaped into the passenger seat. Jake had the door open and ready for me, already. "Go!" I yelled, laughing. I saw Jen coming out of the building with blood dripping from her nose.
Jake's POV :
"What the hell happened?" I looked Gwen up and down. She was laughing, but she looked pained. Her shirt was soaked with something and clinging to her body. She smelled of weak coffee.
"Jennifer, the secratery. She threw coffee at me." Gwen was trying to dab herself off with napkins that she, for some reason, had in the box with her personal belongings.
"Well, conveinient that you have napkins?" I laughed.
"I stole a lot of office supplies and shit before leaving. It just seemed right..." She seemed proud of herself. I just chuckled and thought of how to fix this...
"Lets stop at the hotel before we go to the studio. You can borrow shirt or something."
I brought her up to my room and let her pick out something else to wear. I found it a little strange that she opted for the one long sleeved shirt that I owned, seeing as it was about 80 degrees outside. "You sure that's what you want to wear?"
"Yeah. I'm cold." That was all she had to say. I brushed it off. She's a little strange, but she was a total bad ass, today.
We all spent the rest of that week at the studio. Gwen was recording with her new band for 10 hours a day. It was crunch time, after all. They actual recorded an entire album's worth of music in one week. I was impressed, as were the rest of the guys. She did it! She even wanted to move to the same city as the rest of us. I couldn't believe she was so willing to giver up her life and jump states so easily.
We had talked to her about opening for us on our upcoming tour. She still was nervous playing in front of people, but agreed.
We have three months left to get ready for this.
I think this tour is going to be the best one yet.
Thank you to whoever is reading, so far! Please, feel free to let me know what you think! I love feed back!!
