Chapter 19 :

Jake's POV :

We were all on edge, the entire day. At 6, that night, we started to get ready. It wasn't hard for any of us to dress completely in black. We all donned war paint. This ass hole wanted to mess with us, he got all of us. Before the meet up, everyone else hid in the park, setting up my plan. I waited at the bus with the guitar case full of cash.

7:30. Thirty minutes left...

My heart was racing. I had never been so nervous for something, yet so driven.

The last time I saw Gwen, she thought I was cheating on her. She ran off, hating me... She thought I didn't want her. Steph ruined that for me. I should've told Gwen about her, that she lived here. But, how could I have known she worked at the theatre? Or that she was even still there, pining over me after all these years... She must be fucking crazy.

7:45.

I left the bus, walking slowly to the park. I couldn't sit around waitng any longer.

7:51.

I was early. I sat on a bench in the middle of the park. I passed an undercover officer on the way there. They were waiting, incase he got away. Of course, they didn't know about my plan...

7:59

"Hello." A voice chimed eerily behind me. The voice from the phone...

I jumped and turned around. A man in a trenchcoat stood behind me. How cliche of him... Did he purposely dress like a kidnapper?

"You." I seethed. I needed to keep calm until he returned Gwen, but it was so hard.

"Where's the money?" He smiled a crooked-toothed grin.

I threw the case at his feet.

"Careful! The guitar!" His smile vanished when he opened the case. "Where is it?"

"You'll get the guitar and the rest of the cash when I have Gwen. Exchanged at the same moment." I collected myself to sound as serious as I could.

His face contorted into a disgusting scowl. "You know, I could just kill her." He laughed a disguisting, chortling laugh.

My gut wrenched as his twisted teeth peeked through his lips. I wondered what those lips had done to Gwen. If she was truly alive... I coudln't allow myself to think like that. "If you did that, then I would have to kill you. Now, I will only ask you once. Where is Gwen?" The strange calm in my voice scared me. I was actually ready to kill this man.

"Fine." He spat. "Stay here. She's just outside of the park." He reached for the case of cash.

"Leave it." I shot him an icey glare. He huffed, turning and walking away slowly. It took every ounce of my being to stay put. I knew I wasn't the only person watching him. If anything happened, he would be taken out.

I watched the man shuffle away towards the entrance of the park. I could see a vehicle unlock. He opened the door and dragged out something large. After throwing it over his shoulder, he turned and shuffled back down the path towards me. He seemed to be struggling under the weight. When he got back, he gently set the object on the ground. It was a large bag. Suddenly, my heart stopped, lodging in my throat.
"Is this?..." I couldn't bring myself to finish. I looked up at his crooked face as an ugly smile plastered itself to his face. He only nodded. "If she is dead, I will kill you." My voice was barely louder than a whisper, but it was more threatening than anything I've ever heard. I surprised even myself. I saw something move behind him. Jinxx had moved in closer, silently. I knew they were out there. They were waiting for me. But I had to open the bag...
