Christopher M. Brown 05/05/17
Hello to whomever is reading this. This is my chance to finally tell my story. Today is the day that I turn eighteen, a year that is supposed to be free and happy. I know it won't be though. I know that people are waiting to taunt me tomorrow. Waiting for me to walk through the doors or that school and make me feel less of a human because of who I am. Make me hate myself because of what I prefer and what I want! Equality shouldn't be something I have to beg for. I just want to be like you, living free and enjoying my life. But that'll never happen... It was January second, of this year, we'd just moved into a new home. My mother finally gained the courage to leave my father. January third, the first day at my new school. I was excited to get away from what I'd been victim to in my previous school. This day is a day I remember vividly. It holds the first person I'd met. It was you, Robyn, Robyn Rihanna Fenty...
My heart hammers against my chest as her green eyes continue to stare into my brown ones.
"Um... you're in front of my locker." She finally says and my face heats up.
"I-I um... sorry!" I ramble before quickly moving out of her way. She walks past me, her eyes looking me up and down before she goes to open her locker. I stare at her as she does so and she laughs lightly.
"Can I help you with something? You're staring pretty hard man..." She says before glancing over at me. I shake my head and turn the other way. I shift awkwardly on my feet and slowly look back over at her. A smirk lines her lips and her arms are crossed over her chest as she stares at me. "I know I look good, I've been told but I don't like when people stare." She voices and I clear my throat.
"Sorry... I'm new here and... and... My name is Christopher!" I say and she lets out a little giggle.
"Christopher... hm. Nice to meet you. So you transferred schools senior year? Damn that must be rough." She says as she closes her locker.I shrug my shoulder and push my glasses up my nose.
"Why'd you leave your old school?" She asks as she comes to stand in front of me. My face heats up and I quickly look away from her.
"It's not important." I say and she laughs a bit.
"Oh it's important you just don't want me to know why." She says and raises a perfect eyebrow. We fall into a silent stare as she holds a small smirk on her deep purple, heart shaped lips. "So what's your first class?" She asks and I pull my schedule from my jacket pocket.
"Physics." I say before looking up at her through my lenses.
"Physics? You're smart and cute." She winks and I blush.
"Thanks..." I say softly and she nods her head.
"Here, let me walk you to class, what's the room number?" She questions and I hand her my schedule. She glances down at it before nodding. "Follow me." She says and begins to walk away. Quickly I follow behind her and shove my hands in my pockets. "So... you have a girlfriend?" She asks after a moment of silence and looking back at me. I shake my head and avoid her eyes. "Why not?" She asks and I lick my lips.
