Christopher...
"Two teens found dead in water, one teen found dead in his home. Out of respect for their parents, we will not reveal the identities of these young souls. A notebook found at the house of one of the boys held a very detailed sequence of events that lead up to the suicide of the other two. Please parents, take this as a sigh, watch your kids. Watch for signs of a child that is struggling and silently crying for help. Also, make sure kid is not the bully. This is a tragic moment in history and should be an eye opener to all parents."
The camera changes and my mother's face is on the screen. Tears flow down her beautiful face, making my own form in my eyes.
"He told me they were going on a picnic." Her voice is barley audible and she shakes her head. "Those boys were the best thing that ever happened to me. They've both been through so much and when they found each other they found happiness. Christopher is my only child and I loved Rakim as if he were my own. Chris called him Rocky because he's... he was a fighter." She stops to let out a painful laugh. "I guess he couldn't fight for the two of them anymore."
Tears roll down my flushed cheeks as Rocky holds my head against his chest, his own tears coming down.
"It'll be okay soon..." He whispers and I sniffle before looking up at him.
"Promise?" I whisper and he bends down, placing a kiss on my nose.
"I promise, babe." He replies and I stare at him for a moment before turning my attention back to the T.V Robyn is now on the screen, crying her eyes out.
"I just want to say I'm so sorry... I lost two of my best friends and I can't help but feel as if it's my fault too..." She shakes her head as her parents comfort her, their arms wrapping around her frame.
"It is your fault..." Rocky mumbles angrily and I reach for his hand. I squeeze it lightly and he relaxes.
"It's okay... we only need us... not her." I say softly and seconds later I feel his fingers playing in my curls.
"I know..."
...
Stepping into our apartment, I close and lock the door behind me before hanging my keys on the hook.
"Rocky..." I call out but I get no answer, causing me to furrow my brows. I kick off my shoes and shrug off my jacket, hanging it on the coat rack. I know he has to be home because his car is parked in the driveway. "Rakim." I call out for him once more but again, no answer. As I walk past the living room I glance over it only to find it empty. I climb the stairs and head down the hallway towards our bedroom. His voice fills my ears, as well as giggles as I wrap my hand around the door handle. Slowly I push the door open and see her and him in the center of our bed.
"I was looking for you..." I startle him and he turns his head to look at me.
"Oh, hey baby." He gives me a big smile as he picks up our baby girl.
"Hi." i chuckle as he extends her out to me. I grab her from his grip and place a kiss on her little nose. "Hi, Ro." I smile at her and she blushes cutely before wrapping her little arms around my neck.
"Hi, daddy." Her little voice sounds as I wrap my arms around her. Rocky smiles as he situates himself back on the bed.
"I missed you, Pumpkin." I say, pulling her back to see her beautiful face.
"I missed you too!" She smiles and squirms to get out of my arms.
After settling down here five years ago, me and Rocky decided we wanted a kid, something to fill the large gap we discovered in our lives. A year after getting settled in, finding stable jobs, and staying lowkey, we began looking for someone to carry our child. We both got tested, later finding out that Rocky couldn't conceive kids. We of course used my own seed, resulting in our beautiful little girl, Royalty. She was the light of our days. There was never a moment that she wasn't happy, even when we'd first brought her home.
