Alec wasn't prepared to awaken in the animal clinic, arching off a metal gurney as a burning pain ricocheted through his body. Fingers scrapping against the metal beneath him, head thrashing from side to side, eyes scanning the room trying to focus on the bleary figures surrounded him speaking in soft tones. A hand gripped Alec's and his head swiveled towards the form beside him. His eyes cleared and he saw Liam's concerned eyes staring down at him. Liam's head turned to someone-Scott, and he started talking.

"Scott, you have to give him the bite. If he's a real wolf, it'll save him. Otherwise he's not going to make it," Liam begged his Alpha.

"Liam, he's to weak. The bite may kill him. Besides, with what you've told us we can't be sure he's even part wolf."

"But-"

"Liam," Alec intervened, squeezing Liam's hand and making the boy look at him. "He's right. The bite," he paused taking in a wheezy breath. "It'll just kill me sooner. I don't want it anyway."

Liam stared dumbfounded. Alec didn't want the bite? Even if it may be the only way to save him? Liam suddenly felt so horrified at the thought that Alec might not actually make it through this alive. Liam didn't know what he'd if Alec were to die. Tears seeped from his eyes as he rested his forehead on their conjoined hands.

Alec's hand snaked through his hair providing a weighty comfort. "Don't cry. Everything will be alright. Everything will turn out right in the end."

"No," Liam sobbed, causing Alec to flinch from the raw emotion in his voice. "It won't. Nothing will he alright if you're not here. Please Alec. Please don't leave me."

"I'm afraid it's not up to me."

The door to the animal clinic burst open and Melissa Mccall was stumbling in with medieval supplies, ordering Scott to help her set everything up. She placed bags on either side of Alec and implanted and IV. When Alec grunted in pain, Liam gripped Melissa's hand in a vice grip. Alec pried his hand off of her and squeezed it. Liam offered her a weak apology, sending Scott an apologetic look.

"Its the fun moon," Scott explained. "We can feel it during the day."

"Its the Supermoon," Theo corrected.

"Is that suppose to make you super aggressive or super strong?"

"Both."

Alec grunted again, lifting of the metal tray and biting his lip as another flare of pain went through him. He could hear the heavy breathing of the others and didn't need super hearing to listen to the fast beat of their hearts.

"Glad to know you guys are in control. I feel totally safer."

Alec pouted as best he could when Alec slapped him lightly on re shoulder. Everyone laughed and the tension ebbed slightly. Hopefully, everyone would be okay.

                                                ➰

Sweat pooled at the nape of Alec's neck and slid down his face in large droplets, splattering agaidnt the metal with a dull thudding sound. His body still ached, but it had slowed to a dull twinge. Warmness spread up his arm where Liam was gripping his arm in a desperate clutch. He felt bad for what he was putting Liam through, despite not really being the driving force behind it. Scott had left a while ago after receiving a text from Theo, who had left sometime after Melissa had gotten there, about drama at the high school. Alec was to tired to really focus on it. His eyes kept fluttering closed, due to Mrs. McCall's insistent fingers running through his hair in silent comfort. Alec could tell by the look in her eyes that even though she wanted her therapy to work-it wasn't.
