Chapter 3

Jeron's POV

Halos isang buwan na ako dito sa bago kong bahay. I like it here dahil tahimik and mababait naman ang mga kapitbahay ko. Kung minsan, pumupunta sina Mommy dito to check on me. You know, mothers will always be mothers. Pero ang palaging pumupunta dito ay si Thomas. We would just play Xbox dito sa bahay, play some hoops doon sa basketball court or just jog around the village. Ayaw man niyang aminin, I know he wishes to see Ara. Tinamaan yata ang loko nung unang pagkikita nila. If magkasama kami and nakikita namin si Ice, the first thing he would ask the kid is about Ara.

Ilang beses ko rin ulit nakita si Ice. There is just something in that kid that makes me happy everytime I see him. Tinuruan ko siya magbasketball and kung minsan maglalaro lang kami sa playground. I've became fond of him. I feel like I became a kid again when I'm with him.

I was just shooting some hoops when somebody called my name.

"Tito Je!"

I know that sound. Nung tumalikod na ko, I saw Ice running towards me.

Jeron: "Hello, little boy! How are you?" Nakipag-apir sa bata sabay buhat dito.

Ice: "I'm fine, Tito Je. Excited na ako magplay today." (big smile)

Jeron: "Talaga? What do you want to do today? Basketball or sa playground na lang tayo?

Ice: nag-iisip. "Basketball! Yaya, my ball please...thank you!"

Hinihingal pa rin si Yaya Sally nung lumapit at binigay ang bola kay Ice. Pinahabol nanaman malamang to ni Ice.

Ice: "Thank you, yaya. You rest na po. Hehe" Tumango na lang si Sally. Hindi pa rin makapagsalita.

I thought him how to dribble, pass and shoot the ball. Kahit nahihirapan siya, tuloy pa rin siya. Binuhat ko siya para maishoot niya ang bola, syempre hindi niya abot ang ring. Parang walang kapaguran ang batang 'to. Then after almost an hour, thank God, napagod rin. Biglang tumakbo sa yaya niya and uminom nga tubig at umupo na lang sa bench.

Ice: "Tito Je, I'm tired na."

Jeron: Lumapit sa kanila. "Me, too. Let's go home na?" He nodded. Naubos yata lahat ng energy niya. "Tara, hatid ko na kayo. Sakay ka kay, Tito Je?"

Ice: "Yehey!" I saw the sparkle in his eyes when I asked him that.

Binuhat ko na siya at ipinatong sa shoulders ko. Nasa likod lang namin si Sally. Ice was the one who gave me directions kung saan ang bahay nila. Ang listo talaga ng batang 'to. Two blocks away lang din pala yung bahay nila but nasa opposite side sila kung nasaan ang bahay ko.

Ice: "Tito Je, we're here na." Binaba ko na siya. "Sayang wala pa si Mommy. Di mo siya makikilala."

Jeron: "Next time na lang siguro, and magkikita pa naman tayo eh."

Ice: "Thank you, Tito Je. Nag-super enjoy ako today!" He hugged me then, "I lablab you!" Nagulat ako sa sinabi niya but I felt happy upon hearing that.

Jeron: "I love you, too!" Still hugging him. "Pasok ka na. Uuwi na rin si Tito Je. See you soon, little boy."

He smiled then pumasok na sa bahay nila. Umuwi na rin ako. I was tired but I was happy at the same time.

Mika's POV

Ice was talking about his Tito Je a lot. He tells me everything that they do. Palagi raw silang naglalaro sa playground and he teaches him basketball daw. Ice also told me na minsan kasama nila yung best friend ng Tito Je niya. Thomas yata yung pangalan. He always asks about his Mama Ara daw.

Ice: "Mommy, I think like niya si Mama Ara." Bigla niyang sabi.

Mika: "Pano mo nasabi yun baby?"
