Jeron’s POV
I woke early para maaga kong masundo sina Mika. I can’t help but worry about Ice’s condition. Sabi nga nina Thomas kagabi, daig ko pa ang totoong tatay nung bata. What can I do? I love the kid and, of course, the mother. Okay, stop na.
Jeron: “Good morning, Sally. Ate Mika mo?”
Sally: “Good morning din po, Kuya Jeron. Hinahanda lang po ni Ate si Ice. Bababa na din po yun.”
Jeron: “Mataas pa rin yung lagnat ni Ice?”
Sally: “Opo. Hindi na bumaba mula kagabi.”
“Hi, Je.”
Jeron: “Hi, Miks.” Karga-karga niya ni Ice na halatang naghihina talaga. “Akin na si Ice.” “Hi, little boy.”
Ice: “Dada…”
Jeron: “We’ll go to your doctor para gumaling ka na and para makalaro na tayo ulit.” He just gave me a nod then yumakap na sa akin. “Let’s go na, Miks?”
Mika: “Yes, tara na. “ “Sal, ikaw na bahala dito.”
Sally: “Sige po, Ate. Ingat po.”
When we arrived at the hospital, they conducted some tests sa bata dahil nga pabalik-balik yung lagnat nito. Medyo nahihirapan silang kunan ng dugo si Ice dahil umiiyak ito at habang karga ni Mika.
Mika: “Baby, don’t cry na. They’re just going to make some tests para malaman yung sakit mo. Mabilis lang yun, promise.” But patulog lang ito sa pag-iyak. “Sige na baby, please. Mommy is here naman. I won’t leave you.”
Jeron: “Little boy, stop crying na. They won’t hurt you. Ate Karla (medtech) is going to help you get better pa nga eh.”
Ice: “Dada, sakit…” Kinuha ko muna sya from Mika.
Jeron: “Shhhh. Tahan na. Diba strong ka? You’re strong like Dada dba?” Hindi sya sumagot but humigpit lang yung yakap niya sa akin. “You need to take the test para gumaling ka na at para hindi na mag-alala si Mommy sa’yo. Ayaw mong mahirapan si Mommy diba? I felt him nod and unti-unti na syang tumahan. “Miks, pwede na.”
Mika: “Karla, ok na.”
Karla: “Hello, Ice! I’m your Ate Karla.”
Ice: “Hello din po.”
Karla: “Upo ka lang dito ha. Mabilis lang ‘to. Promise.”
Ice: “Hindi po masakit?”
Karla: “Hindi masakit. Promise, parang wala ka lng mararamdaman. Tingin ka lang kay Mommy and Daddy mo.”
After a couple of hours, lumabas na din ang result. Dengue. Hindi naman ganun kalala but Ice still needs to stay in the hospital until he’s fully recovered.
Mika’s POV
We’re on our third day here in the hospital and Ice’s getting better. Medyo bumalik na yung sigla niya. Nakikipaglaro na nga sya sa mga nurses dito. Lahat na yata ng nurse dito station namin ay kaibigan na niya.
Ara and Thomas spent the whole day here yesterday. Jeron’s family also visited earlier this morning. Ang dami nilang dalang pagkain for us. I think they brought us one week supply food, mostly fruits. Jeron has been with us since day one. Dito na rin sya natutulog sa ospital. Kahit anong pilit kong umuwi sya para makatulog sya ng maayos, ayaw making. Sasamahan daw niya kami ni Ice dito. Umuuwi lang sya every morning to change and to bring me some stuff to use while andito kami sa ospital.
