Setting: Eric's Barn

Revi
It's sad how people claim to love and care about you and yet they replace you so quickly.

Jaden had taken ahold of me. I didn't want to leave Rebecca alone but Jaden trapped me in his words. I really needed to stop my father otherwise I would end up dead or maybe the whole city would too.

I pinged Clark telling him that I would not come to work for the next few days.
I felt uneasy with Jaden. He was so sweet to me but he had that kind of darkness in his eyes which I couldn't stand to look at.

He took me in his car, which was probably the car of the men about which Jaden continuously talked about.
He opened the door for me to take a seat and himself went to sit in the driver's seat.
He steered the car to the highway route. It led to out of the state.

He was taking me out of the state? Where will we hide out of the state? I bet you he didn't know my dad, he can reach till maybe everywhere.
Jaden then finally stopped at an entrance to a farm. It was right in the middle of the highway.
The signboard read, "Your most welcome to the one and only, The Eric's Barn!"
I had never heard of such a hilarious name before. It sounded really funny. When I giggled, Jaden turned around and smiled at me. His eyes looked joyful, full of light and right then I think I had fallen for him. No... no, I am sure I had fallen for him. Who knew a criminal could be so good looking and charming.

He wrapped an arm around my shoulders and steered me towards the entry of the barn.

When we stepped in, we walked on a cobblestone path.
Jaden was gazing around as if looking for someone and then he suddenly stopped searching. I looked in the direction he was looking to. There was an old man bending towards a group of tomatoes lying on the ground. Leaving my grip he went to help the old man. The old man on seeing him was jolted with instant happiness. A wide smile spread upon his not so wrinkly face. Jaden smiled at him too and they both hugged each other in the reunion. Watching this moment made me feel that Jaden wasn't such a bad guy after all. Maybe he was posed so, in front of the public.

Jaden saw me standing amused and called me to introduce him.
"This Revi is my very own uncle Eric. He was like my grandfather after my grandfather died. He means everything to me. You know it feels so good to meet him after so many years of captivity. He will be the one helping us hide from your father."

"Nice to meet you, sir. You have a nice barn there. Thank you for helping me."

"No problem kiddo, it's my pleasure to have your company. Instead of calling me sir, call me Eric, that would sound better. You are one kind girl I tell you, no wonder my Jaden is helping you."

I kinda blushed on his compliment. Only Rebi had said that once to me, no one else.

"Ok Eric, what should we do now?"I asked with a hint of excitement.

Then I thought I saw Jaden smirk at Eric which sent a chill down my spine. His stare was like they planned on something which I didn't even know an ounce about.
I left the thought, why bother when I have something worse like my dad to worry about.

"Revina, leave that to us, we have something already planned."
With that, they both went inside the barn.
I was left standing there amidst the fields, with endless rows of tomato plants and of course, the smell of fresh tomatoes. I could probably stand there longer but I was curious to know what lay near the barn.
Eric wouldn't mind me snooping around a bit, not like I'm robbing him or anything.

I first ran to the shed that looked like an old part compared to the rest of the barn.
I opened the door, it was musky inside like it wasn't opened for years with cobwebs and old tools everywhere.
I went in.
For a shed, it was quite spacious. There were spades, shovels, tweed pickers etc. It was like a home depot shop but all items old and rusty.
I looked around the walls, the paint had peeled off leaving the wooden parts to look old and shaved off. Then I spotted a photo frame on the floor. I picked it up. There was a family of six. Two adults, one old man in the back and three kids. I could recognise the father looked like Eric and one of the three children was Jaden. He looked studious and dull from the other two children who were probably really happy to get the photo taken.
I felt unusually weird about Jaden. He didn't have that happiness the other too had and who were the other two children and what connection did they have with Jaden? He did seem creepy but I began to love this creepy guy, not for his cruelty but for the true person I saw in him. Perhaps no one could see what I could see.

"What are you doing in here?"
I instantly turned around.
Jaden stood there at the door, a bat in his hand and a creepy smirk spread across his face. He looked damn angry but before I could see anything else ..........thwack!

Someone hit me hard on the back of my head and I passed out.........
