Book Two: Mullingar

(Niall's P.O.V.)

"We're here. Wake up." She groaned, slightly opening her eyes to reveal her muddy brown eyes. It isn't a bad muddy; it looks like when you see a puddle, and you stir it up, and the dirt makes this cloud thing. I've been up thinking, and thinking about god-knows-what and stretching things out so forcefully in my mind.

"We're in Mullingar?"

"Yep." We took a taxi ride to my parents home. I rallied up the whole gang over there to meet Florence. Who knows, maybe she'll find a friend.

"Hey..," the taxi driver said. "I know who you are! You're that guy from that direction-thing band! My daughter loves you!"

"Aww, thanks! Wha' does she want? An autograph? Cuz I can do that!"

I signed a note for "Anna", kind of bothered that he didn't take notice of Florence, but at the same time, kind of relived.

(Florence's P.O.V.)

"Hi guys!" Niall yelled when he entered the door.

"Niall!" His mom ran to him and have him the tightest hug I've ever seen. "And is this Florence?"

"Yep! Florence, meet me mum."

"Hello." I was scarce with my speaking, since I didn't have any conversation holders.

"Hi, sweetie! Niall 'as told me lots 'bout you, and you're even prettier in person, 'ook at that...I've actually never noticed till' now; you're my foster grandchild. And I'll love you like me own." She sweetly told me. I gave her a squeeze.

"Come, come meet the rest! They're dying to meet ya. Lads, come in 'ere fer a second!"

"My lord, is this Florence?! She's too pretty!" Denise practically yelled. She held a small bundle in her hands.

"You can give this one to me.." Niall said, picking up a male baby. "Flo, this is Theo. Say hi Theo!" The baby chuckled as Niall took his hand and shook it.

"You can hold him if ya like.." Said Denise, but I politely denied it.

"No thank you. He's cute and all, but I don't wanna hurt him. Babies are fragile, in fact, they don't really grow actual muscles till a long while after they're born. Don't wanna temper with that."

It seemed like I bored them to death. They all stared with odd looks.

"Anyways," Mrs. Horan continued. "I got dinner ready! First family dinner, right Florence?"

"Yes ma'am!" I said with a grin on my face.

-----

The dinner was set with mountains of food on the big oak table with Irish stew, potato dishes, etc. The lighting was dimmed with a crisp yellowed ember.

Theo kept staring at me, and when I'd look back, he'd blush and smile sweetly.

"Theo likes you!" Niall whispered in my ear after swallowing a whole bowl of stew.

"I guess so.." I took a hit of the same delicious stew. "I mean he is a baby; babies like everyone." I shrugged off the thought.

"Florence," Mrs. Horan spoke out of Niall and I's small conversation. "There's kids your age in the neighborhood, so I asked them to come out to 'hang out'! Sound good?"

I just nodded, but I really wasn't looking forward to it. What if there were boys?! I've been around girls my whole life! In fact, Niall is the first guy I've ever encountered.

"They're coming out at 1:00. Some are at least yer age an' up, but they have younger siblings n' such. I think you'll be fine." She ended.

"Alright." I ended my feasting. "Any tips? Advice?"

Mrs. Horan only smirked.

"Eat." She chuckled.

------

I sat there, looking at the clock that read 12:45 p.m., hoping that i would at least make a good impression.

Would I even be able to understand them? What do I talk about?

I sighed as my thoughts bombarded me once again with negative thoughts.

The doorbell rang.

"They're here!" Said Mrs. Horan, pulling me to the door. "Oh, yer gonna 'ave so much fun! These kids are so full of wit n' joy! You'll love em'!"

She pulled the door open to reveal tons of teens with smiles on their faces and skin as white as blank skies. (Outside although, was very bright)

The smirk on my face was more than just slight happiness, it was full of surprise. I didn't really think all these kids were excited to see me! Skin and all!

Abundances of red heads, freckle faces, and toothy kids pulled me out of the dim home and ran me to the nearest meadow.

As I was talking to the teens and playing with the babies, I spotted an odd boy in the back.

He had shaved jet black hair, crisp blue eyes, a pointy nose, and a minimal amount of freckles on his nose and cheeks.

He didn't smile. He just stared.

He looked so formal in his blue sweater vest and khakis.

And he was very creepy. Yet intriguing.

The stupidest thing I could do is stare.. I thought. But the oddest thing I could do is walk over there.

"I'll do it anyway." I said out loud. I started to power-walk to him with confidence. His eyebrows rose and his eyes started to widen. I became nervous because he became nervous. My pace slowed, and before I realized it, we were face to face.

"Hello." I greeted.

"Hey." He replied. "Um.. Hey." He chuckled.

"You alright?" I asked.

"Of course! Dandy! I jus', didn't know 'ow to approach ya. I didn't mean to startle ya.." His thick Irish accent sounded.

I was surprised that I understood him, recalling all the times I had to have Niall repeat what he murmurs.

"It's ok, I'm Florence."

"Riordan. Riordan Daleigh Eoghan. Nice to meet ya, Florence."

"Florence Azalea. Well, Florence Azalea Horan, now." I explained.

"Awesome.. Very pretty.." -2∞+↑

It's ok for a catch-up for all the months of me not being on... Sorry..
