Seattle showers

No answer.
"Chrispy," I said a little louder.
Their bedroom door opened and revealed bright blue-green eyes and a strand of curly dark hair falling between them.
I pointed at the door, "it won't open." I said softly.

He opened the door all the way and came out, taking his time going down each step, watching his feet on his way.
He didn't speak as he walked to the door. With a shove and a grunt that didn't really sound like him, the door was open. I ducked under his arm and walked out like a dog being kicked out, then he closed the door behind me.

"What the fuck," I uttered, seeing the real reason I heard that grunt. Eddie.
"Surprise?" He said in an almost guilty voice.
"I really don't want to talk to you right now." I stated, stepping down onto the sidewalk.
"Hey, don't be like that." He said, getting up and asking beside me.

I stayed silent and kept walking, not sure where. But I hoped that at some point he'd just give up.
"Just go." I told him.
"I would if I could." He said, making me question the reason.
I sighed and stopped.
"Why?"
"Beth," he started. I rolled my eyes and kept going.
"Vicky! Jesus, let me finish for once, yeah?"
"Okay or don't." He muttered. I was once again staying silent.
"Beth broke it off, and kicked me out." He breathed out, struggling to keep up.

"That's it?" I asked.
"Yeah. So that's why I'm here." He said.
"And?" He was never finished in arguments, I always urged him to go on.
"But I already see you're caught up with Matt." He grumbled, a look of annoyance flashing across his face.

"Matt and I aren't doing anything you idiot." I scoffed. It was true. I had no feelings for him. It was a heat of the moment thing.
"Sure." He nodded, unconvinced.

We continued walking around for another hour while we argued, but then as it got dark we decided to head back and put aside our differences. At least for tonight.

Once we got to the door, I knocked, but Nobody answered. I waited a little longer and knocked again. Eddie was moving the door knob, which was clearly locked.

"Whatever, they'll come out at some point." I sighed, sitting down.
"For real?" Eddie said.
"What?"
He pointed to a single raindrop on his shirt.
"Oh cmon you're kidding." I said, just as another landed on his cheek.

Looking up at the sky, it was clear there would be a storm.
"I hate everything." I groaned as the rain started coming down.
"Makeup is smudging." He told me.
"Shut up." I said, wiping old mascara from my cheeks.

Eddie jumped at the sound of thunder and I laughed.
"Oh you're just as bad as the guys." He scoffed.
"Not true. You're just a chicken shit." I grinned.
"So are we both gonna freeze to death or are you gonna let me get close to you?" He asked.
"Eh, go ahead, freeze." I joked. We were both shivering at this point. Seattle storms were unforgiving.
"Good answer." He said sarcastically, moving closer to me.
I kicked the bottom of the door, hoping it would create enough noise over the storm for Susan or Chris to hear.
"Nah, you gotta do it harder." Eddie laughed, taking off his boot and chucking it at the door.
It landed beside me.
"If you break the door it's not my fault." I shrugged.
"Give it here," He said, holding his hand out for the boot.
I shook my head but grabbed the boot and gave it back. He threw it again, scratching the door.
"Wasn't me." I held my hands up.
"Don't lie, that was totally you." He argued.
"Third time's a charm." He insisted. So I handed him the boot again.
He stood up for good measure and threw it once more.
"Eddie you're gonna ruin that door and Chris is gonna beat your ass." I warned him.
"He won't lay a finger on me."

"What is it now." Eddie and I both looked at each other after hearing Susan from behind the door.
I got up knowing she'd fling the door open.

Eddie followed and we stood, arms linked and leaning on each other like our lives depended on it-and they might have.

The door opened just as I suspected, and there was Susan, crazy eyes and all.
Eddie cleared his throat and gave her a flirty smile.
"Hi Su."
